England Vs Zimbabwe 1st ODI​

England off to a shaky start​

Welcome back, before the break we saw Zimbabwe really attack the England Bowlers. they started off well before losing Coventry but thats when the attack really started. Zimbabwe bought their 200 up in 36 overs and it was only then when Zimbabwe started to collapse. It all started with Flintoff and Sidebottom, these 2 demolished Zimbabwes lower order for less than 60 runs. However was it to late. We are about to find out.

MN: and here come the England players now, followed by the Zimbabwe team, this has been a excellent match so far, Zimbabwe have really given England a hard time with the ball but can England do the same thing for Zimbabwe. Taibu hands the ball to Rainsford. the Umpire shouts play, here we go. The crowd is right behind Rainsford as he runs full pace to the crease. Strauss stares right back at Rainsford as he delivers a blinder, it pitches just outside off stump swinging towards slip, Strauss has a swing and misses it completly.

Its a good start from Zimbabwe, they have been bowling a tight line all morning and after 5 overs England have only managed 14 runs. These batsman need to start getting more runs if they want to win this match.

These 2 batsman have started to hit out now, Strauss started it hitting a lovely on drive passed coventry for four. The next over Cook hooks one away down towards square leg for four more. These two have pushed their confidence up and are looking better, they move onto 26/0 of 7 overs. Can they continue those boundaries.

MN: Its Rainsford to bowl to strauss, Strauss will no doubt be looking for another boundry here or a run at least. Thats a slower ball from Rainsford, just outside off stump but it swings in sharply and strikes Strauss Straight on the pad, there is no doubt about that, its out. The umpire gives it out and Strauss just stares in disbelief. England have lost a quick wicket now, they are 26/1 Zimbabwe go wild.

England in trouble already, Zimbawe look in control, can they continue.

England smash Zimbabwe away​

So ian Bell comes to the crease. Its Rainford to bowl his first ball, the crowd is right behind Zimbabwe today, they have batted very well and have already picked up a wicket very early. England need to increase their run rate if they are to win this match. rainsford runs in and bowls a inswinger on the leg side bell just pushes it to the boundry, Bell gets off the mark straight away.

Bell Continued his attack smashing the bowlers every ball, even cook was joining in. If it was wide of the stumps bell and Cook would punish it, even if it was on the stumps it would be smashed to the fence. Zimbabwe were taken back by thisa and no matter how many bowling changes Zimbabwe made they could not stop these two. England moved passed their 50 after the 10th over and moved onto 86/1 after 15 overs.

MN: Bell and cook are in fine nick today and have put on a very good partnernership together, these 2 are definatly showing the Zimbabwe batsman how to play. Could England really win this match, well thanks to these two its looking possible. Its Mupariwa to bowl, Bell slashes at it and races away to the fence, thats the 100 up for England and off just 18 overs. Bell moves onto 44 now, next ball thats four, bell really knows how to bat and hes batting in style. 48 of 43 for bell now. in come Mupariwa, Its wide Bell goes for it and nicks it, first slips got it, thats out, bell goes for 48 and he looks very dissapointed with that. Zimbabwe are back in the game.

Another couple of wickets will do the trick for Zimbabwe Lets see.. But if the batsmen now settle down by picking singles/twos it will be more than enough for England. Lets see what happens!

England push for runs​

Pieterson comes to the crease now, Rainsford comes into bowl, its a good full ball outside off stump, Pieterson has ago and nicks it down to third man. This outfield is lightning fast and thats four. Pieterson off the mark with a nick for four. Taibu pushes coventry back a bit further,he moves from gully towards a short third man region. Pieterson looking edgy already. HYowever at the end cook continues the attack to the bowlers moving England passed 120 after 20 overs.

England have been going along nicely, they lost Strauss early which seemed like a vital blow but Bell and Cook took the game in to their own hands and moved passed 100 in less than 17 overs. Bell was easily dismmised bringing pieterson to the crease who moves onto 5 of 6 balls.

Two quick wickets​

Pieterson was the first one to go, It was the same ball he had nicked for four, Pieterson went for it and nicked it straight to Coventry. Taibu's Fielding change had worked. The Zimbabwe team were Ecstatic, Rinke had got his first wicket and was looking for more.

Cook was next, Mupariwa came in full pace and bowled a blinder on leg stump, Cook tried to go over the top but missed it completly. It slapped him on the pad in front of middle stump. Cook new he was out straight away, the umpire raised his finger and Zimbabwe were having their own parade out there, 2 quick wickets leave England at 130-4

England move passed 150​

England are not looking good now, Zimbabwe have batted and bowled well today and 1 or 2 more quick wickets could win the game for them. Rinke and Chigumbara have been keeping the run rate down but England were still getting runs on the board. Bopara had been batting very well alongside collingwood. They moved England passed 150 with ease and up to 160/4.

Bopara looked settled but it was Rinke who dismissed him, he bowled a blinder straight at boparas middle stump, the bails went flying and Bopara Departed for 16. Another low scoring innings from Bopara.

Well England have got some quick runs on the board but they have lost 5 wickets in 25 overs. Now its just the lower order to come. Zimbabwe if can bowl out England within 220 would be a great chance for them for victory.
