Rashid is a good fielder. He's quick and has a good pair of hands and also seems to have been promoted to slip this season, since his catching record has been good (7 catches in 8 games).

Both are crap, but I don't think Rashid is such a fail fielder like Monty.
Shane warne earmarked him as a one to watch out for, beside it's too early to say that he's crap, but monty is done and dusted.

Monty might be done and dusted partially thanks to Twenty20. Now those same fielding standards are expected in Test/ODI and Monty is just awful. He drops club cricket catches. It was funny at first but its old now.

Rashid for me. His ability with the bat makes him very handy

There's a youngster picking up like 0 wickets for his Club this season, goes by the name of Ben Manning. Google him, he's a shoe-in. Heard it here first.

Googled. Highly disappointing.

Yup, Rashid probably the logical replacement for Flintoff. Monty is gone, haven't seen much of Tredwell.

IIRC he's a decent fielder too, as well as a good batsman.

I think Monty's days are probably over. He's right down the pecking order and if Swann was injured, they'd go towards Tredwell who they used in Bangladesh or go for youth in Rashid. Monty has lost his touch.

I hope they don't use 2 spinners in AUS without trying it this summer against PAK.

Totally agree, although they need to have better tours than past protagonists.

Not much of an advert for English spin down under, a couple of half decent returns, but noone dominating the aussie batsmen. I think we struggle to have one decent spinner, hoping a second could do a job might be silly and put too much pressure on someone new - unless we go back to Monty. Take Monty, but I wouldn't play him. I'd play three seamers and a spinner anyway, what I would look for is a batsman who can bowl better than most of our part-time options.

Swann is the only spinner that should be in the Ashes squad.
