1st Test - June 1st @ Colombo

Dermot Reeve: "Welcome to the first test here at Colombo, this is going to be an exciting game and lots of England fans have turned up here to support there team, as have many Sri Lankan fans hoping to catch a glimpse of there hero's out there today

Mark Nicholas: "Yes it certinally is going to be very interesting, lets go down to Michael Atherton and take a look at his pitch report"

Michael Atherton: "Thanks Mark, yes this pitch is suprisingly not a spinners dream, it is hard and has very few cracks, but as the day progresses i expect cracks to become more apparant. Whoever wins the toss on this pitch should deffinately bat first as the ball will come on to the bat and will easily get to the boundary rope as the outfield is dry. The coin toss should be interesting, so lets see what happens there

Talking To Both Captains

Mark Nicholas: "Well England have won the toss here so lets talk to Michael and see what he has decided to do.............Michael you've won the toss what are you going to do?"

Michael Vaughan: "Well looking at this pitch we have decided to have a bat, ermm it should do a bit on here later on and id rather be bowling last on this pitch, we only have one specialist spinner in the team but we have every faith in Gilo and if necessary i can also roll my arm over too (laughs)"

Mark Nicholas: "Yes Michael you've also got the world number 1 bowler in your ranks, but what everyone wants to know is what is your team going to be?"

Michael Vaughan: "Yes, we've got the same team really from the summer with Gilo being the sole spinner and 3 main bowlers in Harmy, Hoggy and Jimmy, we also welcome back Butcher and Thorpey to the team which is a huge boost"

Mark Nicholas: "Well good luck Michael its going to be tough"

Michael Vaughan: "Cheers"

Mark Nicholas: "Now lets talk to the Sri Lankan captain, Marvin, you've lost the toss how is that going to affect you?"

Marvin Atapattu: "Well, obviously I am very dissapointed but the pitch might just do a bit and I have every faith that my bowlers will do a great job on this pitch, we will just have to stick to it"

Mark Nicholas: "How about your team today Marvin, any changes from the previous series you just played?"

Marvin Atapattu: "No not really Mark, we played very well in the last series even though we only drew with Pakistan, we have a lot of batters in top form and obviously Murali could be the difference between the two teams today"

Mark Nicholas: "Well good luck Marvin today"

Marvin Atapattu: "Thanks Mark"

Mark Nicholas: "Well there you have it, England have won the toss here in Colombo and have elected to have a bat"
