Story Englands Tour Of The Sub-Continent (part 2)

sorry for the long delay reply to the run chase but i have been haveing a break from cricket 2004 im now enthusiastic to continue my tour :D After this game the stroy and screenshots will be more frequent i hope.

England require 210 runs to win..................................

England make a positive start to the match through Vaughan and Tresco building an opening partnership of 71 runs. Hurley set his stall out from the start and was a suprise call up in the early overs, he trapped vaughan plumb in front and the opening partnership was broken. Butcher stay was short (what would have been classed as run out bug for cpu) going for a single that was never there, he changed his mind half way down but to little avail. (thats butch out of the one dayers). Hurley also took the wicket of collingwood who was guilt off playing a straight drive to early, c&b hurly. Flintoff arrived at the crease and the match swang back the way of england. He helped the score up to 158 before clarke fell at the other end to hurley again. Then came the usually england collaspe, hurley continued to pick up wickets like 1p chews. Flintoff was probably embarrased at getting out to taylor but nevermind. Englands tail wagged much to the suprise of every human being in the ground. England managed to win though it was closer than maybe it should have been given there excellent start.

England now have an 3 match test series against sri lanka.
I will be posting many more screenies of the test, breaking the game into sessions of play :)

Nail biting finale. You should hang your head in shame in allowing Hurley to do that to you :D . Looking forward to the rest of the one dayers.

You can download the new Windies one day kit from www.cricket2004.co.uk. It's far sharper than the dodgy one with the sun that you get with the game.

Test Series England V Sri Lanka (3 tests)

Hard Pitch
Overcast
Humid
Medium Chance Of Rain

England win the toss and elect to field. England have decided to go with two spinners in Ashley Giles and Ian Blackwell, Blackwell retains his place following some immpressive bowling performances in the recent one day series. Hopefully this is the right decision for england on the "generally" spin friendly wickets of sri lanka. Englands other seamers include james anderson, steve harmison & andrew flintoff. Trescothick may also be called upon to bowl some medium pace. England mixed attack with defense in the opening 15 overs with a custom field that saw 3 men on the boundry but also retaining a second slip and second gully. They were looking for the early breakthrough and they found it through steve harmison as he caught jayasuriya lbw. Sri Lanka were very much on the back foot, with anderson and harmison giving nothing away in the first 14 overs. Maybe they will feel unlucky not to have found another wicket. Flintoff and Trescothick were next to bowl, Sri Lanka seemed to come out of there shells a little bit as the ball grew older and flintoff had a couple of expensive overs compared to the opeing bowlers for england. Trescothick started to apply some pressure after a dissapointing start coming back with two maidens in a row. However england were unable to make any breakthrough as attipatu started to see it like a beachball. In one last throw of the dice by vaughan to pinch an early wicket before the lunch brake, england brought on both spinners. Wether they will continue after the lunch break remains to be seen as Giles was knocked about abit. Blackwell found a good line which the batsmen sensibly left well alone. So to sum up at lunch Sri Lanka are 84-1 after 28 overs. Definatly Sri Lanka's session despite a good start from england.

After lunch england decided to resume with a few overs of spin however the pitch didnt seem to be offering much and they lacked the ability to consitently hit the right areas so after 4 overs the seamers were brought back on. However Sri Lanka continued in good nick securing a 150 wicket partnership, england desperatly needed a wicket. It eventually came at a cost. Anderson bowled a slower ball on leg stump which Kangakara could only sky to blackwell at mid off. You could feel the pressure eased off anderson, who had been unlucky not to pick up a wicket earlier in the game. When it rains it pours or so it seems, as Attipatu was stopped just short of his century, this time attempting one drive to many and a slower off cutter from anderson saw his powerfull drive go straight to vaughan at cover point. Things started to look rosy for england, both the big scorers had been eliminated, however Sri Lanka have a long batting line up so more good patient bowling is required. With the tea break approaching the spin bowlers were re-introduced in an attempt to keep scoring down and hopefully nab a wicket, however the batsmen looked comfortably and were able to pick up two's and three's and the odd 4. Englands bowlers have done quiet well and they will be hopeing for a couple more wickets before the end of the days play. Score at tea is 169/3.

no only medal of honor i really only play the on line game of it. my mate has call of duty though and that looks a game worth getting

Call of Duty is sweet.

I was big into Counter Strike but it seems all these games eventually get taken over by haxors.

Sh*ts me.

I play a game straight up and they hack to beat you with aimbot etc.

Final session of day 1

Resuming the tea break saw the spinners given another chance to shine, again they were uncessful but continued untill the new ball was available. Tilakaratne was going along quite steadily and was being backed up by jayawardne. Trescothick was unlucky not to have tilakaratne caught in the slips just before the new ball was taken unfortuantly it fired through the cordon for a 4. So the new ball arrived and harmison and anderson were first on the scene. Harmison immediatly striking forceing tilakartne to drive straight to 2nd gully. Jayawardne played a foolish drive just a few overs later driving to vaughan on the boundry, it was poor play as there was only one remaining over left in the days play. It was a good session for england, although they only picked up two wickets they did a reasonable job of keeping the scoreing down, and with the ball only a dozen overs old they will be looking to make some early breakthroughs tommorow. Overall the session probably just favoured england, Sri Lanka are still in a reasonable position though with the weather expected to worsen coming into the second and third days play. So at the end of day one, sri lanka are 235/5 after 80 overs.

Good start mate, looks like an interesting game

[OFF TOPIC] Call of Duty is heaps better than MOH, at least the single player is- online is useless for me cause I've got dial up

second day of the test 1st session:

England started with there seamrers and were instantly rewarded as anderson picked up the wicket of kaluwithren, he could only nick it to read. The very next ball, almost an identical delivery saw loukarchanedge to the keeper and anderson had taken 2 wickets in as many deliverys and was on a hat trick. He attempted a yorker which was adjudged to have pitched just out of the line of the ball and the new batsmen survived the lbw decision, so close for anderson. Vaas came in and was going along quite nicely before his partnership with dharmasena was broken, dharasena attempted a leg glance off blackwell that went straight to a close catcher. Anderson picked up his 5 wicket catching the bowler nissanka whit an outswinger which piched along leg came back and trapped him plumb in front. The second ball paid dividends for england who at one point may have been expecting to chase a total of around 400. England bowlers as a hole were consitent however Ashley Giles had a bad game and his future within the sqad looks doubtfull as ian blackwell challenges for his place. Sri Lanka are 305 all out after 99 overs.
