You cannot make a distinct decision as to which game is better. The 2 games appeal to different types of football fans and games players. Fifa 08 is the more realistic of the 2 (according to everyone apart from LF ¬¬). It has slower paced gameplay, is more frustrating, less fun, but overall provides the more realistic experience. PES on the other hand is more arcade based, based on the engine of other Konami game ISS. PES appeals to people who want a realistic but less sim like football game. PES provides a realistic core gameplay but also is faster paced, and is seen as the better game purely for the fun factor. For me personally i cannot choose between the 2 games. Fifa offers me the realistic experience that i require, but when i fancy a more fun pick up and play game PES will provide it for me. The 2008 versions of the game are going to provide some competition for eachother at last, after years of dominance from the Konami series. Its gonna be a good few months for footy games.

I haven't said I don't like PES 2008, as some people think. I like both that and FIFA 08, and if the former ran on my PC I would buy it. I will rent it for PlayStation 3 instead and enjoy it almost as much as the other one.

That's exactly how I feel with either one sometimes PES comes on top and I enjoy that more but I also enjoy FIFA...but this year it's the other way around.

Yet you're only basing that on demo play. So really, this debate doesnt start properly until both games are released.

PES demo HIGHLY disappointed me.

The graphics have got worse imo, gameplay is slower and it seems to have gone backwards, it's just really arcadey and cheesey.

I've played both FIFA and PES demos, and i find FIFA much better, despite being a massive fan of PES, im disappointed with the demo, nice interface, but it is so arcadey, its like the old ISS days.
