GCSE Results Day

Congratulations to all who got their desired grades! I remember what it was like, waiting and waiting to see whether all your hard work has paid off or not.
Long time ago now though! I'm about to embark on a primary school teacher's training course, so I've come full circle! Funny though, becoming a teacher is probably the last thing I wanted to do when I left school!

Wooop !! I got 11 A*s !!! Get in. I did get a B in Eng Lit though, which is a slight let down but on the whole the 12 grades aren't bad!

Eleven A*!!!! Which University are you going to, Oxford, Cambridge, M.I.T??? Well done!! :)

I wish. Quite a few people get these sort of grades nowadays. Even if I go on to get my 5 As at A level, the chance of me going to Oxbridge/Imperial is still small. In my school alone, 10 people got 10 A*s or more, and 3 guys in the sixth form got 6 As !!

Do they? When I was at school, eight or nine results at grade C and above was considered a great result, never mind eleven A*!

Well, not everyone. But in my school alone 9 people got 10 A*s or more. I go to a grammar school btw. Still, imagine how many others in England would have got that.

Which grammar school is that Adarsh? Considering your close by I might have heard of it.

Well done to all on your results, now you've just got to look forward to AS and A2 results in the next 2 years :) After that its a doddle :p

I went to a Grammar School when I still lived in Kent. Well done to everyone. Now you have to work hard to get A Levels

Heckmondwike Grammar School.

Nice looking school.

I go the Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School, Horncastle. Our school has produced comedy legends such as Robert Webb (Peepshow etc) and obviously myself :p

Is the grade levels the same as here in the US?
A*=A+
A
B
C
D
E/F
In that order, with pluses and minuses too (B+, B, B-, ect..)

Well yes apart from at GCSE there are no pluses or minuses its either A or B or C, with A* the exception.

Did you just say that Heckmondwike Grammar is a nice looking school ?

(faints)

Lol, the wikipedia article gives you a good write up...

Ah, wikipedia. The ultimate reliable source  . Seriously, it is a good school though. As a free paying grammar school it does much better than some of the private schools in the area.

I honestly didn't think there was a school in England with a wikipedia not ruined by school kids, at one stage ares had a detailed map of where all the emo's,chavs etc hang out! Congrats to all, I really can't be arsed doing mine, If i get 3 A's i'll be pleased lol. Expect them in business, history, possibly English and Maths and maybe in science. Well all mine can swing either way, down to whether i do work i guess. I got 3 B's in our science modular thingys and they didn't give us a grade for maths, just a mark which was stupid. If i get anything above a G in electronics i'm pleased

HAHA electronics, you have to get 100% to get A*, what a joke
