damn, i've played in every game so far this season, and i don't get picked in the final. i feel let down, as one of the main players in the team, i feel that i should have been picked ahead of somebody who hasn't got the average upgrades.

anyway, no hard feelings, and i'll be cheering on from my skiing holiday, even though i won't be able to find out the result until next sunday.

That's the problem though, it isn't a like-for-like swap. You're an AR, he's a bowler, and we need the bowler to work on a Hard Pitch. You're pretty much certain to play at home and depending on what the random pitch is.

Man D owner confident of Finals victory!

"That cup is ours, they bloody well stay out of the way if they know what's good for 'em!'

Man D owner and general PCPL Leged Zorax Doom spoke out today in a pre-match interview, making it clear that he expect his side to emerge victorious in the 3-game Grand Finals.

"3 games? Bah, we'll be done with 'em in two! You just wait and watch!"

"I don't even know why we have to play these finals. Didn't the league matches make it clear that we are the best team? 12 wins, just 3 losses, and we even threw one of the games!"

Man D were indeed very dominant through the league stages, picking up 24 points from 15 games, 8 points clear of second place and with the highest NRR by some margin. They brushed Chennai aside 2-0 in the Semi's as well, and are the out and out favourites to lift the cup.

"Vatican think they can be sneaky and clever and work on their strategy and that'll be us, but I don't think they will. We've got the talent, the determination, and our pride is on the line here. We deserve this trophy. It's ours. And I'd like to see them try and stop us."

"The fans will be pretty disappointed if we lose this, the players even more so. We've got lots of money and time invested in this, and so they bloody well stay out of the way if they know what's good for 'em!"

The Grand Finals get underway today after being delayed by a day on account of Christmas.

PCPL 3 - Grand Finals - 1st Leg

The sun is in the sky, the stadium is packed and the atmosphere is alive as the first leg of the PCPL Finals are about to get underway!

The team news is that Man D have left out Dr. Pepper, Harris, and Sydney Barnes in what many feel is a strange bit of team selection here. It seems in anticipation of a hard and bouncy track Man D have instead opted for seam bowler Pak Cricketer, fast bowling allrounder Roborocks and legspinner Arslaan Khalid. It's a bold move to drop a man who has two five-fers in the competition so far and 2 players who have been regulars in the side for such a crucial match up. But Man D have shown that there is no room for sentimentality when selecting a side, and this sends out a strong statement that they are here to win this.

Vatican too have made a few changes, as fast bowler Bob Massies and batsman Shan11 come in for Geoff Boycott and w3lshrugby. A simple move of bringing in a fast bowler for a spinner, and having to drop a Nat in order to stay within the limit. A 5 pronged seam attack with WC for some legspin is Vatican's plan for the hard and bouncy conditions, and they seem better suited to this pitch than Man D do.

VV have done their homework and are trying to maximise their home advantage, while Man D are doing whatever it takes to get the win. Amiya and KI stride out to the middle for the toss. KI flips the coin, Amiya calls heads, and heads it is! Man D win the toss, and Amiya says he wants to have a bowl! Well, that's an interesting call! Opting to bowl first in good batting conditions, I wonder what Man D are upto. Anyways, the players are making their way onto the field, KI and Dev stride out to bat, and we're underway...

0.1 Pak Cricketer to Kshitiz_Indian, AND HE'S OU...noooo! Got back home just in time. Two runs. (2)
0.2 Pak Cricketer to Kshitiz_Indian, Great bowling, poor shot, and a regulation catch. Soft dismissal there.

The second innings begins now

And a fantastic bowling performance from Man D has seen Vatican restricted to just 144 in good batting conditions. Led by Pak Cricketer and Arslaan, Man D gave nothing away, and it took battling fifties from Dev and Shan to push VV past 140. A brilliant start from Man D in the first grand final, can they pull off an unlikely win here? They've set themselves up well, and Vatican have a massive ask to win this game. The crowds are alive and do believe VV can do this. We'll just have to find out, after a short break.
