Agree with Sohum, from an academia perspective, you increase your chances on getting onto a masters programme (with funding) abroad. I studied my masters here in the UK with quite a few IIT graduates who came over from India. The majority of them went onto get some decent jobs in industry, and having chatted to them, it was their masters that the employers were more interested in (in some cases completely over looking the IIT degree). If you do come abroad, just don't be too naive and expect everyone to know the value of an IIT degree.
They do produce some quality graduates though, so best of luck with it all
-- competition is obviously going to be tough, so don't be too harsh on yourself if you don't make it...
