Indian Premier League - General Discussion

I get a feeling they will make RCB win this. Virat is too big a player for BCCI to snub at this stage of his career especially with the whole 18th season marketing (his jersey number is 18).

P.S.: Yes I think it's fixed.
Told y'all!

Everything said and done, @Prithvi Binnu you were the biggest RCB fan I came across on this forum. I hope somewhere somehow your soul saw this victory that you so desperately wanted to witness when you were with us.

Ee Sala Cup Namde Namdu!

At the end of the day, it is a game-someone had to win or lose. I'd have liked for Punjab to win and for Iyer to win 2 titles in 2 years. To me, RCB, didnt play like Finalists yesterday- the score was below par. A lot of things went their way- most notably luck. I'd say Punjab played poorly and failed to execute, especially after the fall of Iyer, as Nehal and Shashank went into a shell. In hindsight, Shreyas staying longer, Stoinis coming in earlier, could have made a difference. While Shashank's hard hitting brought the the final margin to 6 runs, he left it too late.

Krunal Pandya deserved the Man of Match for his spell. I am still surprised at the cockiness of his speech where he began comparing the total trophies in the Pandya household. Superbly elegant! :eyesrolling:

Finally, there's something about Finals at Ahmedabad and Iyer's dismissal that tends to set the tone for the game. Last time round, it was Virat and KLR who went into a shell. Yesterday, Nehal and Shashank!

Open top bus celebrations? Its not the World Cup guys!

Honestly, this is becoming more ridiculous by the minute. Precisely the reason why a majority of cricket lovers didn't want them to win. You won, move on, get over it! If it was a World Cup, I get it! Celebrating 1 success after 17 failures isn't a reason to go wild!

Well Spurs did it as well after winning the Europa League (Their 1st trophy in 17 years), so I don't see a problem with RCB doing it too. :cheers

The tragic stampede that claimed 11 lives is both heartbreaking and deeply unfortunate. My heartfelt condolences go out to the families affected. This loss of life was preventable and highlights a severe lapse in event management.

RCB’s title win after 17 long years was a historic achievement, but the organizers should have anticipated the massive turnout such a moment would draw. With a stadium capacity of only 35,000, the crowd reportedly swelled to nearly 200,000. Spreading limited police resources across multiple locations—HAL Airport, the team hotel, Vidhana Soudha for the Karnataka government's felicitation, and the victory parade to Chinnaswamy Stadium—left the main venue dangerously undersecured (reportedly where the stampede happened and death reported). The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) failed in its responsibility to ensure safety.

This is not our first major victory—we won the WPL in 2024, and RCB's Unbox event is hosted annually before the IPL season, without such tragic outcomes. The key difference this time was the limited preparation window due to international commitments and the urgency to organize the event before players departed for the WTC.

What should have been a day of celebration is now marked by sorrow. No trophy is worth more than a human life. Had we foreseen this, we would never have wanted the event to go ahead as it did, heck we didn't even want the trophy.

Continuing the event even after news of the stampede broke is an especially bitter pill to swallow. This tragedy will be remembered with shame—not just for RCB team, but for us as fans too.
