Actually, the opposite. If there's an outbreak, shift the very safe teams to Pune and play there.

The IPL should have had a moving circus to be honest. Few games in Mumbai, then another location, then another.

True. I heard a funny observation in an article yesterday that the BCCI/IPL are shifting the game out of Pune and into Mumbai, because they're concerned about a case outbreak due to a "closed bus journey from Mumbai to Pune". The original reason why the IPL was restricted to Maharashtra, was that teams can travel in a 'closed bubble' between the cities and a bus travel could classify as being within the bubble.

But now, the same bus travel is now considered a potential risk? :D In my opinion, this is all due to the inability to accept the overwhelmingly strong fact that no matter how careful you are, you are going to get cases here and there! But due to vaccination + previous infection immunity, almost all these cases are going to be mild/asymptomatic and almost like recovering from the flu. Every time you get Covid, your immunity increases for the next variant. If you add vaccination on top of it, its "hybrid immunity" thats even more stronger. Even Mitchell Marsh is transferred to the hospital on a precautionary measure.

Apparently, Kieron Pollard has retired from international cricket. What a waste of a player! You cant simply announce this 3 months ahead of a World Cup, especially when you are the captain. Anyhow, I reserve the international cricket comments for the other post.

If this retirement is anything to go by, Mumbai are heavily disadvantaged here. There was no need to retain this overrated person. Instead they could have gotten Kishan and perhaps used the leftover to build a far better squad. The writing's on the wall here-Pollard will probably be gone by next year. I don't see him playing any Chris Gayle-esque innings for Mumbai this year. What a waste of a retention!

You are almost jinxing Pollard. Watch him go BERSERK tomorrow against his favorite IPL franchise, Chennai Super Kings! He has smashed CSK every time he takes the field against them! :facepalm:noway:(

I am thinking international retirement is starting to get overrated. Pollard being a non-Indian, he's going to play a lot of overseas leagues and should keep himself fit and in rhythm for sometime (unlike a Dhoni, who is allowed to ONLY play the IPL and nothing else).

Between years 2013 & 2020, Kieron Pollard batting at positions 5, 6 & 7 had scored about 4,700+ runs averaging about 33 and strike rate of 147.1

Honestly I feel those are pretty good numbers and I think it would be hard to find players of his quality. Possibly Andre Russel might be the only guy who would be as impactful with the bat as him.

And CSK, well he really loved them.....

Edit: Posting the numbers.....

Edit 2:

So Pollard had scored 399 runs @39.9 in 19 innings and had a strike rate of 170 in the same period

While his overall record was 622 runs in 24 innings @34 with a string rate of 167. He also scored his 2nd highest score in T20s against CSK in this period.

The numbers arent showing his actual impact on games. MI retained him out of pure emotion. In the free auction, he wouldn't have gotten more than 1-2Cr/gone unsold.

You are also forgetting that he is in the team on account of his all-round capabilities. I havent seen him bowl as much in the recent past.

He only hasn't delivered recently. I can't share every game but here are the 2019 IPL games that MI won because Pollard played well or did well in the supporting role-

Trying to understand why Kuldeep Yadav was MoM in yesterday's match. Yes, he was economical but so were a couple of other bowlers too, in fact more than him. Add to this, his wickets were that of non-regular batsmen. Quiet puzzling IMO.

Should have Axar Patel or David Warner I think.

With Mumbai Chennai playing they way they have been this season, the IPL did become boring. The TV ratings have dropped and goes to show how important it is to have a good Mumbai CSK team for IPL. Mumbai CSK are to IPL what India is to international cricket.

Every game one commentator gets the chance to decide the motm. Yesterday it was Kevin Pietersen's turn. He chose Kuldeep because he "liked the way he bowled"

Bless him but the late Shane Warne would have had a field day with such opportunities!

I remember @NILAYSHAH60 tagging me in a post. Not sure if I remember what the content of said post was though.. life has been a bit too busy these days! Was it to do something with Rohit Sharma and Mumbai?

Mukesh Chaudhary YET again!! Pretty sure he has some deep connections within the team, with someone in there! Sad that the likes of Rajvardhan, KM Asif, Simarjeet Singh aren't getting opportunities despite being available to fill the absence of Deepak Chahar.
