Hello. Welcome. I like to look at the underlying statistics in ICC. I like to see how Childish Things have rated international players, and compare them to their current form, and what I rate the players. That is why I present to you two downloads.

Firstly, I have made a new save game file containing roster edits according to how I think players should be rated. So far I have made the first version of my New Zealand one. If a scout is released/I finish my excel table, I will redo this list.

This is the complete list of changes as of 3/8/2010

You may disagree with some of these - post what you feel they should be in this thread. If you find someone who is grossly overpowered, or plays international cricket and shouldn't (i.e. randoms who have high ratings), post in this thread too. I haven't compared players with each other so some may be rated higher than someone who shouldn't be that high. Please tell me of these too :)

To use this, you will need to un-rar the file. I suggest using either winrar or 7-zip. Once you have done this, you will have to save files. These need to be copied into your save game folder which is either located at:
Code:
[B]Windows 98/XP[/B]: C:\Documents and Settings\[USER NAME]\Application Data\Childish Things\International Cricket Captain 2010
[B]Window 7/Vista[/B]: C:\Users\[USER NAME]\AppData\Roaming\Childish Things\International Cricket Captain 2010
If you cannot find the Application Data/AppData folder, you will need to enable hidden folders in folder options.

Secondly, I have been entering all the batting and bowling ratings of players into an excel document. (With a lot of help from enigma. I honestly couldn't have done it without him). It is finally done and is attached to the post. It is in a table format which gives you numerous sorting options. We are now able to compare the ratings of players easily. Now I will start to redo my roster, making it more accurate.

The Excel file is set out in a table which will allow you to sort the values, or filter values. To sort them click on the arrow in the heading and click on the appropriate sorting method. To filter countries out, just uncheck the boxes you don't want to include. You can also filter it such that only values above a certain rating appear, or particular names appear, or so that names beginning with the letter f appear.

Current Progress: Nearly all international players from the test nations + Zimbabwe entered. Some kolpak players and associate players entered. A few players have been missed due to oversight. (as at 19/08/2010)

Update
I got bored so I started updating the spreadsheet with the ratings from the most recent patch. So far I have done all the New Zealand players. It is attached as v1.1. Updated at [30/03/2011]

I'd lower Vettori a bit more.
You have Vettori at 680, Bollinger at 600, Harris at 650, McKay at 600, Harmison 660.
Vettori is surely better than all that trash.

I find that spinners do better despite having lower ratings

and yeah, are spinners meant to have slightly lower ratings than fast bowlers.

edit: Nevermind, you just answered that question.

I'd say Khawaja and Guptill would be about the same. I haven't gone back and double checked anything yet

Chewie added 1 Minutes and 8 Seconds later...

I'll fix some of those tomorrow. Vettori will be the second best spinner in the game at any rate

Hughes, Jacques and Khawaja are all rated higher than Taylor, while Smith is rated equal with Taylor. :p

Mark Houghton's a bowler mate, even if his record doesn't suggest it :P I'd agree with most of what your've changed, although I still feel as though Eion Morgan is rated far too high in this game.

^ That's the inconsistencies I need to fix. Using the scout would be quite helpful for that because I don't remember what ratings all the other players that I didn't edit have

Mark Houghton WAS an opening batsman... :spy

He should be a BWL or an AR.

This. McKay's a freak on this game, reckon he should be a little higher IMO, he's the best bowler Australia have when irl this isn't anywhere near the case.

Hmmm Bollinger at 620, Harris at 640, McKay at 660, Harmison at 680, Vettori at 620? And then Swann can be 660, and Hauritz 720.

Guptill at 1360, Taylor at 1440, Jacques at 1420, Hughes at 1430, Smith at 1400?
