keeping game interesting and fresh

I been playing the game for a while now on and off and was starting to get over the repetitive nature of the game so I made teams of my local towns and suburbs where me and my mates are all from and made a local tournament league. and also done an all stars team vs a current team league aswell. so just wanna see what other tips and options you guys have done to keep the game interesting and fresh.
