Key Ashes Battles

ruthless, not stupid. England drop the player who is one of their best form players over the last 12-18 months, for a someone who's never played test cricket before.

When Athers and Stewart both announced the retirement before a series the averaged 22 and 23.

Thorpe is a good player but hasn't played much cricket since the tests vs RSA.

No English opener has ever suceeded against McGrath, not Athers nor Stewart not even Trescothick. So now their new boy Strauss, well, he'll do just the same.Strauss c Gilchrist/Hayden/Warne b McGrath 0

Where is the next English Spinner going to come from. I mean a big name spinner like a Shane Warne!

There is one at Yorkshire who has high prospects, Lawson is his name iirc. Leg Spinner.

Um, just on the Mike Hussey thing, who would you take out??? Katich or Clarke???

Clarke has been out of touch, and maybe needs a wake up call. But, being one of his supporters, I'd say do'nt leave him out just yet. Katich is a very high quality First Class palyer in reasonably good touch too. Hard one, but we have to remember Hussey only became a full time part of the side on the New Zealand Tour in the ODI matches...

Katich is a very consistent batsmen and you know what you get.

I don't think Australia can call up another player can they?

they dropped Katich after a very successful tour to India !
