Briggs Does A McGrath And Announces His Targets!
Usually before a series kicks off, we are all used to Glenn McGrath coming out and naming his targets for the coming series, but today before McGrath even got a sniff at saying who his targets were, youngster Shaun Briggs came out and told the world who he would be targeting with both bat and ball in the series.
David Gower: Well Shaun how does it feel to have been picked to play in such a special game?
Shaun Briggs: Well obviously I am very happy to have been selected for the ROsteRS and me and all my team mates will be going out there to give 110%
David Gower: Do any of your opposition daunt you, I mean you are a pretty new face on the scene and the likes of Warne and McGrath and Lara have been around for years, do you think that will effect you on the day?
Shaun Briggs: For me, nerves are not an issue, ive come across some top players already in my short career and I believe once im out there, winning the game is all thats on my mind, no matter who the batter im bowling too or bowler im facing is, I look to win, thats the only thing on my mind.
David Gower: Do you think you will be one of Glenn McGrath's targets?
Shaun Briggs: (Laughs} Well Glenn is an amazing player and im sure he is capable of getting anyone out on the day, but I know he is one for the mind games, so id like to give him some of his own medicine!
David Gower: As in.....?
Shaun Briggs: Well, ive studied many of the players were coming up against and I think ill take a leaf out of Glenn's book by saying id like to think when im batting ill look not to let Streak settle, and when im bowling ill be targeting Gayle and Symonds for sure because they are dangerous players who we need to get rid of quick

*Walks over to the entrance and catches a tall, brown haired player in the Planet Cricket Rockers training kit*
"Ian, a quick word?"
Ian Woolf: "Sure thing, Nass."
Nasser Hussain: "Thanks. For those viewers who don't know, this is Ian Woolf, named in the Planet Cricket Rockers final 12 for the upcoming match against the world test XI. So, Ian, for those unfamiliar with you, what sort of player are you?"
Ian: "I'm a fast bowler, and hopefully good enough with a bat to support any batsmen with me - a sort of Matthew Hoggard or Jason Gillespie-type player I suppose."
Nasser: "You've been named in the 12, what do you think your chances of making the final team?"
Ian: "I think, by the time your in the 12, you've always got a decent choice. I'm not to familiar with some of the other players, so don't know where I am in the pecking order."

The Final 12 for each of the Teams has been selected and the anticipation seems to building up even more, as we get closer to the start of the first international match between the Planet Crickets Rockers WOXI team.......
Today A local reporter managed to interview the very busy kelvinismyname via telephone,
kelvin has been selected and is expected to make his international debut for the PCR team here are some of excerpts from the interview.....
Reporter - what was your reaction when your first heard you were selected.
Kelvinismyname - well... i know i was up against alot of good players for selection. so i was'nt a 100% confident that i would have been selected.so my initial reaction was that i was happy and a little surprised.
Reporter- The WOXI is a very strong team how do you think your performance will be against them?
Kelvinismyname- The WOXI is a very strong team, but i have been training hard and spending alot of time in the nets over last few weeks, also in the last few months i have been performing excellent in my club matches as my average and record shows,so i believe that once i put forward 100% and give it my best then my performance will be excellent
Reporter - what are some of the milestones would u like to achieve in this upcomming match and future matches
Kelvinismyname - getting either a century or taking 5 wickets is something that i am hoping to achieve, i belive that i have a equal % of skills in both batting and bowling, so achieving, anyone or both of those milestones in a match will be great for me
Reporter - Finally,what are you thoughts on the overall selection of the Final 12 for the PCR team?
Kelvinismyname - i believe that our team is well balanced , we have quite a few all-rounders, which makes both our bowling and batting department stronger. also all our young fast bowlers seems to have some great talent ..i thinks the WOXI have a worthy opposition on their hands.

Vicky:: I am only named in the 12. Being a captain or not is a separate issue and the coach is to decide abt it, but definitely if i am "blessed" with it I will take it on as a challenge
Nasser:: You seem to be pretty confident. I have learnt from Ravi that your last domestic season was not that good, back at home. Will that have any effect on you?
Vicky:: I definitely hadnt had a gr8 tournament but my job is to forget the past and fight for the future. Failure is a part of the game and I dont think it would bother me.
Nasser: Can you tell our viewers something abt other players?
vicky:: we have a balanced team and i believe our selectors had a difficult time selecting this team. All have gr8 allround abilities, i wanna name S_harmison, who's a gr8 batsman and an wicketkeeper. He might be our answer to gilchrist. He's not in this side but watch out for him in coming matches.

Nasser Oh Right! Ive heard so much about you........... erm... so, tell me about yourself?
S_Harmison: Are you hitting on me Mr Hussain?
Nasser: well.. erm... no, of course not, were here to tlak about cricket, i have been told by one of your fellow players that you consider yourself the next Adam Gilchrist?
S_Harmison: Well, im from the same mould, wicket keeper and opening bat, but i can bat as far down as number 4 really, im pretty good behind the stumps and have been playing for and captaining Derbyshire's 2nd XI, I averaged 79.61 in the Second XI championship last year and finished with 67 catches and 16 stumpings,in the few one dayers we played i finished with an average of 89.24 and managed to hold onto 16 catches, 9 stumpings and three runouts. That speaks for itself really Nass.
Nasser: Well i expect we will be seeing more of you against the World XI?
S_Harmison: Actually Nass, i wasnt chosen in the 12 but i might be in for a shot in the next match or tour we particpate in, however, you can rest asured Nass that i am fully behind the team!

Planetcricket Rockers...press Conference 1
LONDON: A new team is making a lot of buzz in the cricketing circles these days, named Planetcricket Rockers. A lot of players in the team have very limited domestic careers, but they are willing to take over the world. By seeing their jubilation and enthusiasm, one might say that with in no time they will achieve it.
A lot is expected from this new born team. Their 1st exhibition match is against the World one-day XI. Captained by Shane Warne, this team comprises of some great names in the game. It will be a real test for the Rockers to face this great team. Not having the likes of McGrath, Lara, Flintoff, Youhana and many more, but they are confident of taking up the task of facing them.
The 12 man squad for both teams was announced yesterday. Shane Warne, in his press conference told that they are looking forward for this exhibition game. A lot of other players from both the teams have also posted comments and expectations forthe upcoming game.
Today the Manager of Planetcrikcet Rockers, Sarmad Nawaz, called upon the press conference to tell the latest about his team and the upcoming match against World one-day XI. He said
?It?s great to be a part of a new team. We might not have got big stars in the squad, but their morale is high. They are really excited and determined to take upon any team of the world. I must congratulate the staff of the Planetcricket Rockers for making it possible. It was not easy job to pick a squad of 12. Everyone wanted to participate in the exhibition game. But we could only accommodate 12 of them for the 1st game. But the rest should not be disappointed. This quest has just begun. We are looking forward to make Planetcricket Rockers one of the greatest teams of the world.?
Then the question answer session began.
Reporter 1: ?Do you think the team is ready for the big challenge of emerging as an international team??
Sarmad Nawaz: ?Well, I think that the boys have really worked hard for this. I have no doubt that soon we will be at the top in the ICC rankings. The whole management is trying to strengthen the structure of the Rockers.?

Sarmad Nawaz: ?We have been welcomed everywhere. By the players, ICC officials and even the umpires. I would take this opportunity to thanks all who have been supporting Planetcricket Rockers. I hope they will keep supporting us.?

Sarmad Nawaz: ?We have a tour to Bangladesh after the Exhibition game. We have not yet decided how many one-day would be played? The talks are going on with Bangladesh Cricket Board. Hopefully we will finalize the tour within a week. The rest of the schedule will be released soon.?
Reporter 6: ?There have been rumors that the selection of the captain of the team is causing some disturbances among the players and the management. How do you see this situation??
Sarmad Nawaz: ?I don?t think so. The selection of the players is done on pure merit. The selectors are very experienced and they know their job well. They have given some inexperienced players a chance for obvious reasons. So, there is no kind of nepotism from anyone in the team. We want to give everyone a fair chance. The selection of the captain will be based on the recent performances and also his leadership qualities. So no one should doubt the selection of the Captain.?
