Makhaya Ntini or Chaminda Vaas? (Tests)

I'm surprised Ntini's ODI record is so much better than Vaas'

I always felt Vaas was one of the finest ODI bowlers in the game, perhaps because Sri Lanka never had great pacemen to oust him and thus his career went on a little longer than was ideal. At ntini's age he was averaging 27 in ODIs

I would go with Vaas, primarily because he was also a bit of a pioneer in that he refined that slow, short and low, very swingy way of bowling in sri lanka, which all the bowlers from there do now.

Ntini was slightly better at his best on bouncy decks or greentops. While Vaas was better bowler on in flat decks.

So overall i'd probably give it to Ntini slightly since he did better vs Australia at his best. (Refering to 6 tests vs Australia 2005/06, few opposition bowlers have bowled better to AUS like what Ntini did then).

Chaminda Vaas is still good enough to play for Sri Lanka, if you took the exact same player but he was 23 he would play every game for sure. He lost all his pace but is really the only guy on the whole team that actually knows how to bowl, and he can bat as well. Age is the only reason they don't pick him. And when you look at the wickets he bowled on and his figures, you have to consider him one of the true greats. Ntini's numbers are very similar, but you have to take Vaas. Look at his economy rate in ODI's, 4.18. Absolutely incredible when you consider he was usually bowling either in the power play overs or the death.

Age is also the only reason Windies don't pick Ambrose and Holding :sarcasm

Not sure how you compare an out and out bowler with a good bowler who could bat and was at one point a potential all-rounder?!?! I liked Chaminda Vaas, maybe never quite fulfilled his potential but Sri Lanka did look a better side with him in it. If only England had someone like him in their ODI and Test side, would fix a lot of problems.

Bottomsidey? :D

lol, he's far behind vaas tho.
