Should Mike Hussey be in the Australian test team for the Ashes?

------

After watching him in these ODI series' in England I think it's impossible to leave him out. He hasn't really performed extraordinary in the Australian Domestic Competition, but in the English County Competition he is always one of the best performers for the season.

I voted no, coz I'm fed up with facing him in the odi team ;) .
No, I agree squiz, he should be in there. You must have a damn fine squad if he's not included.

His average if ****ing awesome. He's been out like, what, twice in ODI cricket? 100+ average and today's innings only helped.

Unfortunately the stupid aussie selectors dont pick players by form, they pick em by name and old performances.

Yes he should be playing in the tests and he should have been rewarded for his batting in the one dayers by bumping him up the order a little.

Gillespie should have been dropped by now and replaced with Kasper or Tait.
Brett Lee should be in the 1st test but ofcourse he wont be coz the idiots dont care about form.

sman-21 how can you like the dockers?man they are hot and cold(mainly cold) behond belief!!!!if your a west ausssie n(like me) go for the eagles even tho i go for the bomber:D

Gillespie is really out of it. The Aussies must live up to their reputation and drop him immediately.

Gillespie is just out of form. He is a class act. But yes, how long will the Aussies wait?

As far as Mike Hussey is concerned, yes, he definately deserves to be picked for the Ashes, but whom will he replace?

Also dont forget, there is Brad Hodge, who knows English conditions well. And I am a very big fan of Hodge and reckon even he should be considered to selected for the Ashes. I think Michael Clarke hasnt been firing for the Aussies in this tour, so maybe he might lose his place to Hodge/Hussey. Simon Katich also might lose his place. Both Clarke and Katich are excellent players.

Oh yes....England just beat Australia by 9 wickets, despite not playing very good cricket.

Well I believe Hussey fits into the equation:

My Australian team:
1. Langer
2. Hayden
3. Ponting
4. Martyn
5. Clarke
6. Hussey
7. Gilchrist
8. Warne
9. Lee
10. Gillespie
11. McGrath

On the verge:
- Katich
- Kasprowicz

Lovely isn't it?

There's no way that I would have Tait in the team. And I wouldn't put Hodge in for Clarke just yet. Clarke still needs have more game time.

I'd love to see two express pacemen in the team (or in any team for that matter) but I'm afraid Tait would almost certainly get smacked around. Also, it's probably particularly unfair to Nathan Bracken if Tait gets a game. Bracken out-bowled him in many ways (Bracken's best was 7/4, Tait's 7/99) but Tait got to go on the tour. Lee is definitely demanding a spot, but if he gets in, it will probably not be until the second or third test.

Hodge is a specialist no. 3, so I think the selectors will hesitate to insert him, even though it really doesn't matter too much. This is the advantage that Michael Clarke, Mike Hussey and Simon Katich have, they are proven at many positions in the order.

For that matter, I think David Hussey and Dominic Thornley should be getting a look in some time soon. Both have that near-reckless match winning talent and are still in their twenties
You can argue about it, but run-a-ball double centuries will get my vote every time.

Freo are one of the most talented sides between the 50 arcs, with Pavlich, Bell, Haselby, the Carrs, Cook and Black. They should be playing much better than they are. Their game against Melbourne was the best match all year, Fremantle 22. 11.143 to Melbourne 20. 9.129. While there have been closer games (though fortunes could have made it just 4 points difference), the accurate kicking, good grabs and free scoring made this game fantastic to watch. They are the definition of hot and cold though, maybe someone's messing with their caffeine pills.

Hmmm...i wouldn't put Hussy into the team until Katich or somebody else has deserved to loose their place.Knowone has yet to deserve loosing their place.Gillespie should definetely be in th team.

Gillespie should be dropped for rest of the ODIs, maybe Tait should come in his place, give him a few games.
