Hey guys. Well recently there was a power-cut during the night and upon awaking I noticed that the Computer did not turn on at all. So I took it to the local Computer repairer and he told me that the Motherboard was toast however he would test if the Processor, RAM & Graphics Card are badly damaged.

Thing is, he told me that I would have to pay for a new Motherboard which would include additional RAM, New Processor and a new graphics card. With my current one being an nVidia GeForce 6200, I was quick to accept his offer. He told me that he would ring up tomorrow to see the state of the damage caused by the power surge.

Now he told me that he would fit an PCI Express Graphics Card as he said there is no point updating a graphics card as PCI Express is very modern. I was wondering does anyone know anything about this and also is it of good quality?

Much obliged.
Kind Regards
Arslaan :)

Hi Arslaan

It all depends on which graphics card he's going to put in. PCI Express is modern but PCI express 2.0 is even better. But I was told that all PCIe 2.0 cards work with the regular PCIe, can anyone confirm this?

V.2 is backward compatible. 6200 though I think wont handle next gen games. 9400 is not that heavy on pocket.

Yes...PCI-E 2.0 cards work on PCI-E slot but with limited speeds.....
if you are looking for any medium range graphic card then go for Palit 9600GT+Super 1GB
