Pes 2009

All i'm gonna do is get the memory card update for PS2 off eBay and leave Pes 09 to Christmas or not bother.

PES looks crap were not in year 1999 anymore where we can accept better gameplay over graphics, I didn't pay ?620 for a PC and ?250 for a 360 so I can have good gameplay, I'm sure others who have PS3/360's didnt just buy them so they have good gameplay over graphics.

God Rob you don't half take the rivalry between these two games seriously. Either play it or don't and stop bitching as if your life depended on it. Jesus Christ.

To me I don't care if it's the same or not. I buy each title every year so why change the habit of a lifetime? And it's absolutely stupid and inbred of anyone to make vast assumptions of games on mere screenshots.

I'd also like to point out that at least on PES you have to ability to have a first time shot and it actually passes and shoots when you facking tell it to.

Everyone is just using the same argument over and over again. It's tedious as fook.

- Slow passing (against Fifa)
- Animal heads (against PES)
- Ugly player models (against Fifa)
- Players with massive shorts (against PES)

It's bloody boring fellas. If you ain't got owt new to say bout the game in the title, don't bother posting. A-thank you :);)

Can we please not condemn PES to failure before we have seen how it plays. It's ages away yet, it will be developed more, we don't know the new feature set. It might not be great, but lets actually see a proper version of the game before deciding that, eh?

How are they meant to hugely upgrade the graphics when loads of people complained it wouldn't run on there PC? They have the limitations of the consoles to work to, there isn't going to be a huge leap from last years as the textures used were basically the most the 360 and PS3 could cope with.

And this can't be based on one screenshot. PES5 looks the same as PES6, but they play totally different.

They could have many more scaleable options, to cater for high, mid and low end PCs.

I agree with the pessimistic amongst us, it looks exactly the same. Same stupid pitch colour (looks like half-dead grass) and the same, tired, boring KONAMI, KONAMI, KONAMI, KONAMI adboards. At least EA are trying to introduce new GFX things, like dynamic lighting and shadows...

MasterBlaster76 added 2 Minutes and 4 Seconds later...

You don't like being proved wrong do you? ;) You used to call FIFA shite and praise PES, I don't see what is different with what i'm doing? At least I back what I say up with stuff...

You can actually tell something from the screenshots - you can tell that it uses the same engine. No matter what they do to that, it will still be a basic football game with no depth so it is not "absolutely stupid and inbred" to say that.

I have scored a lot of goals on FIFA from first time shots, maybe you are doing something wrong.

The response times are a bit slow but it's better that way than having everything happen at double speed, at least it slows the game down to a realistic speed.

I would rather be able to aim a pass properly and control the power and have to wait 0.2 seconds (or however long it is) than have something totally AI controlled happen instantly.

I suppose PES might get high-definition animal heads this time, what an absolutely revolutionary feature .

Huh, exactly! I'm not getting my hopes up too high about this 'complete overhaul' Konami are going on about.

It's a few screenshots, it doesn't constitute the final product. It is utterly insane and definitely inbred to presume how the game will play from a couple of still images.

I don't think that is the problem. The thing is even if the gameplay is decent it will still feel as if we have the same washed out game with a few tweaks in it, something we should have had last year except were getting it this year if that makes sense.

Look i'm as pessimistic about this game as you are and i'm looking forward more to FIFA this year for a change so don't try to pass me off as a fanboy because for once, i'm not being. I was massively disapointed with PES08 as were the rest of the public and at the same time I was very impressed with FIFA 08. But you can't judge a game on it's screenshots.

Inbred means when families reproduce with each other and their offspring end up being laregely unintelligent and often slightly dopey. So these unintelligent people will do such stupid things as judge upcoming Konami football titles purely on a couple of screenshots so actually I am very much using the word inbred in the correct context.

Makes perfect sense and I fully agree! I'm really hoping that Fifa 09 comes through for PC, I've had it with the need to download mods to make PES what it should be (kits/pitches/adboards and so on).

Incorrect, if a game looks the same as a predecessor then most of the time it will play similarly to it, which means that it won't be much better, if at all.

Of course I can't tell exactly how a game will play but you can expect it to be similar to 08 because it runs off the same game engine which can be gathered from the screenshots... If you are expecting something hugely different from PES 08 then you are being hugely optimistic.

As I have said before, this is a cricket forum so some people won't know enough about football to appreciate FIFA for it's simulation style and will just want a pick-up-and-play arcade style game in which the AI does all the work anyway ;).

I am glad you have managed to add a new word to your vocabulary in "inbred", but you seem to be using it in the wrong context ;).

This really looks like a graphic improvement doesn't it?:

Well, the ball is the right colour (!) I'm with you though, I want a tactical footy game where you really have to work for your goals, but where the football is flowing and unpredictable.

Each and every year, we have got our hopes up to see lots of changes in PES and each and every year, all we get is what amounts to stuff that could probably be implemented in a fairly extensive patch! Konami need to get it through their heads that EA will get it right sooner or later (on PC, at least) and stop being such a bunch of lazy gits!
