Pes 2009

I wasn't calling you inbred, I was saying that you were acting in an inbred manner with regards to your dismissal of PES09 as the same as PES8 purely on a couple of screenshots.

I've just told you I have low expectations for this game. It will no doubt be another update of PES08 with 'more animal heads' as you like to say. But all that counts for nothing, the point remains that you can't judge a game on a few screenshots. Yes it looks alarmingly similar to PES08 and it probably is, but there's no way you can give a positively definitive verdict on the enginge and the gameplay being exactly the same. There could be things going on in there that you just can't gather from a still image.

True I suppose, but I'm going on Konami's past record, 'complete overhaul' or not. The fact is, they should be trying to push the envelope with GFX/sound and include lots of scalable options to cater for different machines.

I completely agree with that and i'm veyr much of the same opinion. But as ever, i'm willing to give it a chance.

I have to say that the positioning of those midfielders makes me more pessimistic about the game than the likelihood that the engine is exactly the same. Still, it's very early on, surely the game has got a long way to go in development?

You can't give a review of the game on a few screenshots! We get it, you don't like Konami. You don't have to rant about what a **** game it is every opportunity you get. And graphics have never been Konami's strongpoint. It's gameplay for all you know, it could be a leap up from 2008. Don't act as if you've played this game when you've only seen a few screenshots.

Meh! Gameplay > Graphics, I think PES's graphics are fine, ure the grass isn't as fine and detailed as FIFA's but who cares! I'd rather Konami spend a heap of time on the gameplay than spend the time on making woopdy fancy amazing Graphics, then you play nd it's unplayable.

I'm hoping that the rubbish AI positioning is down to the game being in an early to mid development stage. If it's in late development, then it needs work, Konami!

I think Pes 2009 will be much better this time around, Konami should learn from their mistakes. Pes 2008 had potential, but never reached it. The game play needs to be a bit slower, they also need to improve long range passing to enable a more direct approach. The master league player database also needs improvement, and 2v2 online needs to come back. Fix the lag, and the poor keepers and ill be happy.

Pes > Scripted Fifa any day for me.

I played PES 2008 last night for the first time in ages and in my opinion, the on pitch action doesn't need much done to it, just some minor tweaks. By far the biggest problem is the way the keepers are so good at being beaten at their near post and punching the ball into the net, as opposed to out for a corner, that really needs fixing.

As far as I'm concerned, if they tweak the on pitch action and the keepers, as well as make some changes to the M/L and introduce some new leagues (unlicenced would be better than nothing), then I'll be happy. If not, I'll give Fifa 09 a chance, regardless of what PC Gamer says (they don't usually give Fifa good reviews and always give PES good reviews.)
