Planetcricket FC

Wow, our team shows good promise going by player value, especially me ;) :p

Our teams should all be strong no matter what even though we aren't the best we should do well. Let's see how the league plays out.

Those seemed to be very competetive practice matches.
I scored 1 and am a little disappointed not to make 1st team.
But captaining the Reserves is a huge honour and I look forward to battling my way into the Seniors.

Well my 2 players are doing very well! Chez Lewis won the GK battle in the 1st team and got V-Captain (will also captain to start because of Trev's injury) and Ben Spin got a goal in the friendlies and is youth team captain. Lets hope we can hold our own in the Premiership now then.

guys lay off him.. he cant be on here every single day....

yeh guys come on he doesn't want grief from you guys!
he is taking on a massive thing here and he can take as long as he likes to post updates :)

lol, cut me some slack guys!
I stayed up to watch the Germany vs Sweeden game so i didn't get up until pretty late, plus i had some friends over today and have be occupied with other things.

I have a few basic updates. Even though the standard of these is quite poor i can assure you they will get better, i just didn't have the time to get the pics and write full reports. So far the first team has played 3 games, the reserves 0 and the 18's have played 2.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

TITLE ODDS:
Chelsea 6-4 (fav)
Man Utd 7-4
Arsenal 2-1
Liverpool 5-1
Everton 25-1
Middlesbrough 40-1
Planetcricket 200-1

As you can see PC isn't expected to go so well. The odds suggest that staying up is definantley more of a concern than winning the league.

INJURY NEWS:
After suffering damage to ligaments in his ankle, team captain Trev was pronounced fit to start training again two days before PC's first league match against Bolton. If he is to feature in the match it will be off the bench.
Steve Plummer has also returned to training and will definantley be fit for the reserves first match baring any other injuries.
Viru is still battling with his back strain and is a 50/50 chance to start for the 18's.

Bolton vs Planetcricket at Bolton (13/8)
Trev was pronouced fit to play but to make sure of no further aggrivation to the ankle he starts on the bench. Justin Allison had been called up for the South African under 21's and was ineligable for this match. This gave Chapmandinho a starting spot on the left flank.
Final Score: Bolton (0) lost to Planetcricket (4)
Goals: Billy (x2), Hasi, David Ager
Best: Benny Upiki (MOM), Hasi
A solid start to the season for Planetcricket. Bolton were missing a few key players through injury (Diouf, Giankopoulos) so it was always going to be tough for them. The game itself was fairly even, both teams had good chances and good amount of the ball but poor keeping by the Bolton keeper (the Finnish guy, i can't spell his name :p) as well as a few shades of briliance from PC saw a comfortable win for PC.
Upiki and Hasi continued their good form.
League postion after match: 1st

Planetcricket vs Aston Villa at Planetcricket (20/8)
Justin Allison returned to the first team and Chapmandinho started on the bench. Trev, still lacking in match fitness, started on the bench.
Final Score: Planetcricket (1) defeated Aston Villa (0)
Goals: Chapmandinho (penalty)
Best: Chapmandinho (MOM), Benny Upiki
An extremely lucky win for PC. A penalty in the last minute gave them a win they didn't deserve. Aston Villa dominated play and were let down by poor finishing, by Milan Baros in particular. Planetcricket only had 2 shots for the whole game and were totally outclassed.
League position after match: 1st

Newcastle vs Planetcricket at Newcastle (27/8)
Wildwil failed to impress in the first two games and with Trev nearing full fitness he was relegated to the bench. There were no other changes.
Final Score: Newcastle (1) drew with Planetcricket (1)
Goals: Hasi
Best: Hasi (MOM), Macdonald, Allison
Planetcricket continued their run of luck. Newcastle scored early and never looked like being challenged. Hasi ran hard and brought the teams level with a wonderful breakaway goal. With only 38% of the possesion PC had got out of jail.
League Position: 2nd

UNDER 18's:
I haven't been controlling them yet but i have their results:
Drew 1-1 with Blackpool
Lost 1-2 with Man City in first round of cup.
Their best player so far has been Zohaib Ahmed who has scored a goal and will be pushing for selection in the reserves.

OVERVIEW:
The first team has been very lucky and i think 2nd place on the ladder is very flattering.
The 18's have been disappointing.
The reserves play their first match soon.

Playing Well: Hasi- creating a lot up front
Benny Upiki- wins the ball a lot and set's up forward plays
Zohaib Ahmed- promising start to the season

Under Scrutiny: Wildwil- failing to play up to the standards he set in the practice games.
Sergio Maniz- Has been given the run around by pacer strikers because of his poor pace and acceleration.

Wel thats it for now, but'll leave you with the profiles of the two most in form players, Hasi and Benny Upiki:
