Oh dear. I picked this up a little late and since I got it cheap, I didn't really bother looking up reviews.

First ball from me is a 140kph bouncer...which is met by a STRAIGHT DRIVE for four.

Okay, I can live with the bizarre player ratings (Cameron White is a better bowler than many specialists?), the slow loading and the batsman who moves like a robot from a 50s B-movie, but that just defies physics and even a basic understanding of cricket.

Welcome to the world of crap cricket! There is not one single cricket game that manages to get it right. Every single game I have ever played leaves you frustrated after a while. I have to say the most enjoyment I have recently had with a cricket game is IC 2010 on the PS3 as the camera angels they used made it much more enthralling.

Nowadays I only play the cricket management type of games and even those are very primitive compared to say the football equivalents.

It's awful, isn't it? I thought that since Shane Warne/Brian Lara Cricket '99 got it reasonably right, a game ten years on would have at least that with enhanced presentation. Instead, it's gone backwards.

I realise cricket is a relatively niche market in the global scheme of things. It's not fair to expect NBA 2K levels of presentation and quality from these sort of games. It's not fair to expect Football Manager levels of complexity and detail in the management games.

But for goodness sake, could we get a game that doesn't make us want to punch a wall in frustration?

ICC is as close as we get to a decent cricket game at the moment, but in terms of a customizable, reasonably accurate and detailed cricket sim, the only other one to really get it right is MacCricket - and that was in the early 90s!

Not until there is an official patch release.
Is there or was there an official patch release for Ashes Cricket 2009 & International Cricket 2010 on the PlayStation 3? :thumbs

This is from Wikipedia.
"A patch was released on before 23/09/09 for the PC version.[3] A beta patch for PC was released on 21 September 2009.[4] A second beta (beta version 2) for the PC was released on September 28, 2009. An official announcement on December 12, 2009 confirmed that there would be no further patches for the PC, and that there will not be any patch released for the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game.[5] This has primarily been due to the game developer Transmission going into receivership. The patch for the game was confirmed to be in progress during a Q&A conducted with Codemasters Producer Jamie Firth by Planetcricket.net. Among the issues addressed in the upcoming patch are the prevalence of run-outs, as well as excessive run rates, edged deliveries not carrying, and incorrect bowler speeds. The estimated dates for the release of the patch were initially "...within two weeks."

That was posted two years ago, prior to the collapse of Transmission Games, when it was expected that the release would happen soon.

From our sources at the time, the patch was about a fortnight away from being complete when they collapsed - which resulted in the patch being cancelled and the Beta patches for PC losing online play.

Both games are dead online. AC09 is no good without the patches on PC.

With that being said though is Ashes Cricket 2009 still a good Cricket game to purchase for the PS3 console & is it better or worse when compared to it's sequel International Cricket 2010? :rolleyes

P.S. What do you mean by, "Both games are dead online" ?

IC10 online is unplayable as I've heard because it disconnects. And, you can play AC09 (PC) online without beta patches but, the game is no good without those.

To be fair Mate, I would only buy these said Cricket games on the PS3 anyway.

IC10 is not for PC, so it has 'disconnection' problems on PS3. AC09 however should work fine.

So, considering IC '10 was released in June '10, has this "Disconnection Bug"" been fixed or entirely removed from the game, & i've heard that this bug disconnects the online service as soon as you score a boundary, is that true?
