There has been some debate about the worth of the people in the BBC's shortlist for the Sports Personality of the Year award. PlanetCricket.net members can now have their say, with the PlanetCricket.net Sports Personality of the Year award.

The BBC Sports Personality of the Year has to be from the UK. The PlanetCricket.net Sports Personality of the Year does not, the contenders can be from any country in the world.

Members can post who they think should be in the final list until Sunday 9th December 2007 - the day after Ricky Hatton's boxing match with Floyd Mayweather. A sportsperson has to be suggested twice, seconded, for that sportsperson to make the preliminary list.

After this date, if there are more than 10 contenders there will be a poll to eliminate sportspeople you think do not deserve to make the cut.

If there are 10 or less though, there will be a direct poll to vote for who you think should win. The person with the most votes will become the first ever PlanetCricket.net Sports Personality of the Year 2007!

Start suggesting now! Remember:

1. The sportsperson can be from any country and can play any sport.
2. A sportsperson has to be suggested twice by two different members to qualify for the preliminary list.
3. You have until Sunday 9th December 2007 to make suggestions.

I would like to nominate Jacques Kallis for PC.net SP of the Year. For his 1000+ test runs this year at an average above 90.

Can you please be sensible and make it clear who you are suggesting. Do not vote for yourselves and do not type things like "Stevie Me".

I've nominated Gareth Barry because he's been England's best player in the Euro Qualifiers. Although admittedley he didn't have much opposition in that aspect. Shows that you don't have to be an overrated superstar to play for England.

Tom Brady without a shady of a doubt! Incredible season so far. 3439 yards and 39 touchdown's in just 11 games. An incredible feat that could see him take the New England Patriots to a perfect season. Brady is 11 TD's away from beating the record for most touchdowns in a season and 1645 yards away from most passing yards in a season. All American Football fans will know how brilliant he ahs been this season.
