India beat England by 3 wickets!

INDIA WIN THEIR FIRST MATCH OF THE TOURNAMENT AGAINST ENGLAND!

indiawin9pi.jpg

India have beaten England by 3 wickets in their first match of this Super Cup tournament! But they made a heavy weather of the small total of 192 before they came up trumps! Yuvraj Singh, not out on 31*, guided India home when at one point, England looked to be back into the game!

From 132/5 with Dhoni and Yuvraj kept scoring runs at a good clip. Dhoni was particularly severe on Micheal Vaughan, the England captain who bowled his full quota of 10 overs today on a pitch aiding spin for most part! Dhoni was lucky to also survive an LBW decision off the bowling of Giles. But that could not keep him for long as a brilliant catch by Darren Gough cut short his innings at 62. Dhoni lofted the ball over midwicket. Gough came running in and had to cover a lot of ground. He flung himself in front and plucked the ball out of thin air to the shock of Dhoni!

Ajit Agarkar surprisingly gave some good support to Yuvraj at the other end who was finding his feet slowly but surely! Yuvraj played some pleasing strokes over the ground and found the gaps at regular will! Agarkar was out for 7 when he flicked Harmison to square leg

Harbhajan joined Yuvraj with India needing a few more runs to complete a hard earned victory! But England didnt give up! There were a few close shouts for LBW and Harbhajan survived a few edges as India neared to their required total! With 2 runs needed to win, Harmison dropped Yuvraj at midwicket which pretty much summed up the game as Yuvraj finished the match in ease!

It was a hard earned victory for India as England refused to give up! The bowlers were very tight and they harly gave away easy runs. One wonders why captain Vaughan bowled his full quota of overs instead of giving his premium bowler Flintoff a longer bowl!

I or ashu will then make those screenshots into a story here!

Presentation Ceremony - India vs England

Ian Botham: Welcome to the presentation ceremony! We have all witnessed an interesting match between India and England with India emerging winners by 3 wickets but not before England had put up a tough fight! First, I would like to call upon the England captain, Vaughan. Bad luck today Vaughan?

Vaughan: Yes! We were definitely 40-50 runs short of what we should have scored! The Indians bowled and fielded well today! We were denied scoring opportunities later in the innings and that led to our dismissals! We put up a good fight with the ball but the total was too small to defend!

I.Botham: How do you rate ur chances in the tournament?
Vaughan: We've only lost one game here! We still have a lot of games to play! Hopefully, we will bounce back and enter the semifinals!

I.Botham: Thanks Vaughan. Now I call upon the winning captain, Ganguly to collect the winners cheque of 25,000 pounds! Congragulations Saurav!

Saurav: Thanks a lot Ian! It was a great day for us today! Our bowlers won us the match today! Our batting though we lost wickets regularly, we kept up with the pressure and chased the total successfully! All credit to the team effort!

I.Botham: Your bowling and fielding was special today? Any secrets to this change?

Saurav: We've been improving in these departments for a long time and the results have started showing! Our fielding has always improved with the entry of youngsters of Yuvraj, Agarkar, etc

I.Botham: Thanks Saurav! Now for the Man of the match! The adjudicators have decided that the Man of the match would be Mahendra Singh Dhoni for his plucky knock of 61. I know ask Dhoni to collect his award from the dias! Good knock under pressure Dhoni!

Dhoni: Thanks Ian! It feels good to contribute to the team's victory! It was tough to bat in those conditions and against great bowlers! Had to curb my usual style of slam bang batting for a more conservative approach!

I.Botham: You have finally stuck gold at the opening slot? Will you open in future?

Dhoni: Depends on what the team needs! Opening also suits me as the field restrictions are on and getting boundaries are easier. But if the team needs me in the lower order to fire, I would definitely play down the order!

I.Botham: Thanks Dhoni! Thats all we have here from Birmingham. See you for the next match here! Till then, its good night!

Yorkshire vs England

Welcome to the first match of Second Round of Planetcricket Super Cup tournament. This match is between England and Yorkshire at Chelmsford which is being shown live on Sky Sports. This is Yorshire first match of the tournament while England is playing their second match after a very close loss to India last week.

So lets go to toss and see whats happening there. Yorkshire Captain won the toss and without any doubt he decided to bat first on a pitch which looks full of runs. In the first few overs the ball will seam abit. So lets see how Yorky batsmen stands against Harmison and Gough. Interestingly Hoggard decided to play for his county team instead of his national team :) . Here are the two lineups

start5zk.jpg

Yorkshire got exactly the kind of start they were hoping. Yorkshire reached 30 without any loss in 5 overs after surviving some close calls early on from Gough and Harmison but later on some good shots from both batsmen have already raised some worries for English team.
