Second Day Preparation

Asif Iqbal: Good morning and welcome to the second day of the second test. The West Indies bowled every well to topple out Pakistan, coming in with 10 overs remaining Pakistan gave it everything, and picked up the vital wicket of out of form Chris Gayle. This has put them under pressure and after looking at the pitch this morning its opened up like a widnow, cracks all over te place and it looks as if the next few sessions could be near impossible to deviate through. Lets hope the game goes well. See you tommoro

Second Days PLay

Iqbal: Good Afternoon i have one of the stars of the show Shivran Chanderpaul here in the studio but first a review of the day.

The day started with Paksitan picking up the wicket of Wavell Hinds early with the score on 71. Hinds batted well getting a start but then throwing away his wickets ending with 25 from 54.

Then Sarwan began to open up but not to aveil again building an innings but as he ahs done so many times in recent innings threw it away getting bowled by W.Ahmed with the score on 95 and he went for 43 from 90.

95-3 and the pressure was on.

The Rest of the day was a batsmens show. An equisate day of wonderful shots, big hits, cheeky runs and divine timing. Lara brought up his 50 from 98 balls and the hundred partnership just kept them going. Chanderpaul scored at a very steady pace hitting his 50 from over 130 balls. Amongst the good line and lenght and dangerous movement off the pitch anything short, overpitched of wide was slaughtered and it just showed the class of these West Indians,

Finally after 133 run partnership Lara was Bowled by S.Ahmed and made a wonderful 88 from 153. This showed the class of this man and looks positive to the upcoming World Cup in 4 months.

Imran Khan came in for only his third test innings, he buckled down and put on a gritty 70 with Chanderpaul to ensure the West Indians went to bed on top.

So, Shivan your opinion on the pitch and your performance today?

Chanderpaul: Yes, today has been perfect, although neither me, brian, Imran or Ramnaresh scored quickly we overtook teh Pakistanis and hopefully can get a good lead on tommorow. I feel bad for Ramneresh and know he has been a talking point but i am certain he will recover and get back in form for future innings.

Iqbal: Ok Shivran happy to hear your trust and another point speculating is an argument between Freddie and the Selectors over Lara's retirement, what is the situation here?

windieshf2.png

Chanderpaul: yes the argument is that Lara thinks hes hould choose when he retires and Seccombe agrees. The selectors have been saying they choose because he is their player. To me this is ridiculous and obviously its not going to affect the peformance on the pitch from brian

Iqbal: Sorry to be short in the interview but i know you have to go back to your team, lets hope tommorow brings more cricket so tune into PUNJAB TV tommorow thankyou.

Third Day

After Day Review
punjab_tv_pk1.jpg

Miandad: Good afternoon and welcome to Punjab TV. Today we saw another day controlled by the West Indian batsmen, the day started with young Khan and Chanderpaul adding to their 70 run partnership with another 206 runs, the two batted as if brothers playing wonderfully togethor and putting on the third best fifth wicket partnership in the history of west idnian cricket and the best against Pakistan. This set a trend for the day and West Indies piled on 573 runs. After the partnership between Chanderpaul and Khan was broken only 70 runs were added although this came of only 11 overs. This was added in style of agressive batting and tended to be exatly what was needed. This was helped by Omari Banks hitting a quickfire 27 not out and helped the cause of the Windies substantually.

The bowling was generally poor with not much consistent line and length being found and therefore they were punished, the pick fo the bowlers was S.Ahmed with 147-4 from 52 overs. Pressure onto Pakistan

The Pakistan batsmen strolled out with only 6 overs remaining. This was well bowled and on two ocassions did the bowlerds go up for LBW and 4 or 5 times past the edge. The stage has been set for the Pakistan batsmen who are now trailibng by 300 runs and inn serious trouble to avoid an innings defeat.

Imran Khan: First sorry but we cannot interview anyone today due to their strict routine going into such a close final day. Pakistan ended the day on 279-4, although after Umar and Farhat put on 168 opening partnership before Umar went bowled by Lawson for 86. Then the collapse came ,

Khan next for 5 the score was 184-2 after this Farhat went for a grand 81 banks taking the wicket and 184-3. A quick break and Yousef went for 3 the score 198-4.

This brought tea and Pakistan were 203-4. Inzamam and Razzaq guided tehm safelty home to make sure they where 279-4 at the end of the fourth day.

Fifth Day Banter

Fifth Day Banter

Pitch Inspection

Akram:Good morning the pitch is hard flat and full fo runs Pakistan are 279-4 and need to bat a good 2 sessions to secure victory, lets hope we see a good day of cricket, Inzamam and Razzaq will be taking the crease in 45 minutes lets hope they stay there

Preparation

Both sides were running as a unit early this morning and then the West Indians where out bowling and batting for an hour or so, Pakistan were not seen till about 5 minutes ago when the remaining batsmen got throm downs on the square nets. The West Indians seem more keyed up on victory.

Akram: Today we have the young West Indian Imran Khan, who today witnessed his first test victory as a player, YES the West Indians batted themselves home by 10 wickets after bowling Pakistan out in 1 session and about 20 minutes taking the last 5 wickets for 135 runs. After Razzaq(54) and Inzamam(68) went early it was up to teh tail to survive they did well but chasing 126 to win the West Indians had victory in site. Gayle took a nasty blow to the ribs and retired hurt on 13 with the score on 35. Sarwan(51 from 60) and Hinds(58 from 108) got them to a 10 wicket victory at a cantor. Sarwans quickfire innings showed he was back in form and this being his first half century for 16 innings and 8 test match innings. He said to me after the game 'Its awesome to be back in form, but even better to win the test match by that margin' 1-1 with one test to go

Akram: So Khan Looking at your test statistics 2 months ago could you imagine having a test match average of 100?

Khan: No its amzing i was thinking about trying to play county cricket in England but not sure i was good enough when Seccombe asked me if i fancied it, Well you can imagine, i was speechless. Coming into a side with such good spirit and going out and scoring 2 hundreds in my first 3 innings in test cricket well all i can say is thankyou, thankyou West Indies

Akram: Yes i can imagine, so is there any member of the side who has helped you a lot?

Khan: 10 years ago when i was 14 lara was 27 and the best imagine sitting as a schoolboy now and then being able to play with KP, Ponting, Sarwan or Murali, i still cannot beliece i put on a 276 partnership with a man i used to pretend to be in backyard cricket. For me this is nothing more than a dream, a miracle.

Akram: Yes i am happy for you, i dont want to hold you from your celebrations, good luck in the next test and then against Australia.

Khan: Thanks

INJURED GAYLE

Seccombe Speaks to press about Gayle Injury

Im sorry to say Chris Gayle has broken a rib and will be in recovery for 14 days before announced whether fit or not. This is devastating as i know to the tour and will pressure the selectors to produce a new opener. I am confident that we will recover from this and hope you understand. Again i'd like to say thankyou to the players and fans a like as we leveled the series. Thankyou

Around the World

The Ashes

RESULTS

1st Test = Australia Win by 4 wickets
2nd Test = Australia win by 6 wickets
3rd Test = Australia win by an innings and 13 runs

Performers

Ponting
ponting_rhs0601.jpg

Ponting has batted wonderfully hitting scores of 104/23/118/67/109.
He has always been in control of the English bowlers and hit 411 runs at an average of 82.2 and on only one occasion failed to get over 65, with teh ashes won he will hope to continue this and get some SERIOUS scores in the next two tests. His captaincy has been awesome and his decisions emphatic, the rest of the International captains around the world have a lot to learn from him

Langer
langer_justin_century_d.jpg

Another class player, batting in the middle order for the first time in his test career and after losing the opening spot to Hussey, he has made up for batting down with class hitting 387 runs, only losing his wicket 3 out of his 5 innings and top scoring with 86 he has averaged an awesome 122.33 which is very good considering his position. He has showed ability supporting Gilchrist or an upper order batsmen or benig capable to hit out when with the tail. It shows his batting has no end.

Warne
0,10114,5119551,00.jpg

In a list of Ashes performers this man cannot be left out he has devastated the English batting taking 27 out of a possible 60 wickets averaging 15. This Ashes has perhaps been his best and his GOOGLY against Kevin Pieterson has been said to be a ball to match merlin. He has shown why he has so many test wickets and will look to take 10-20 more wickets in the next two games. He amy look to break Jim Lakers 46 wickets in an Ashes Series if he really produces the goods.

No-One in the English side has stood up but we will be back after the Ashes with at table of Batting and Bowling Stats.

Pre-Match Training

Having a fortnight(2 WEEK) break before the final and deciding test we saw the West Indian side relax for 10 days before going into intense training. The relaxation was spent in 5 star luxury hotel and then they flew to Karachi and went into 8 hour a day constant training.

Pakistan had 2-4 hours a day training throughout the 13 day preparation, they had no worries and looked confident as they trained and on a few ocassions Inzamam didn't even turn up, confidence or stupidity.

WILL THE INTENSITY OF THEIR TRAINING EFFECT THEIR PERFORMANCE
