Frist Session

Curtley : Good Morning Ladies and Gentleman and as the morning session of the third day is over Pakistan are as they say 'under the cosh' With first Khan going for a gritty 60 of over 135 balls and then Mohammed Yousef went 12 balls before pushing one to slip on only twelve. Razzaq did not last long either and with the score on 217-5 Edwards and Lawson got the early wickets required and have really put themselves in a position to topple over the Pakistanis early after lunch. The pitch is one that all batters would love to bat on and Inzamam has shown that playing some equisite strokes and batting wonderfully well unbeaten on 84 going along well with a strike rate of 60 considering wickets were falling around him.

The fielding has been very tight although fielding at mid on Inzamam cam down teh wicket and chipped one just short of Khan, as he went forward i think the sun caught his eyes and he missed it completely as they scampered through for a single, apart from that its been good fielding and bowling from the West Indians.

Younis Khan having the ball rip into his pads as Edwards after bowling 3 bouncers and then getting the ball to nip away past the outside edge gets one to jolt in and at 98 MPH it hits teh pads of Younis Khan 150-2 and a wicket the West Indians would ahve really wanted.

Mohammed Yousef coming in and facing the raw pace of Edwards and Lawson found it difficult from the word go. After only 12 balls and 6 runs he pushed a little too hard at one and was caught in the slips. Yousef came out with a ridiculously confident attitude, not wearing a helmet and after having to dodge the first five he called out a helmet.

Special guest to the sky sports team and former essex fast bowler and Zimbabwe coach Don Topley to speak about the second session

Don Topley : Hello and this session was controlled by star batsmen adn Pakistani captain Inzamam Ul Haq. He has played a predominent role in the match as of yet and with a wonderful innings of 141 he has pushed the Pakistanis onto a respectable total of 359 for 7. Mushtaq got a quickfire 43 not out fo 58 balls to help Inzamam erach his 141. The Session has been tough for the Windies and it has shown as the bowling has become wayward an dplenty of balls have been there for Inzamam and the other players to hit around teh park at their own will. Wit the score so close to 400 the Windies will want the last 3 wickets within the next 10-20 overs after tea. Thankyou

Should be difficult to win from here though, good luck!

West Indies need quick wickets

pg1seccombe.jpg

Alec : As the Final Session starts the West Indians come out looknig to polish off the Pakistan batsmen within the first 30 minutes and get back out to score some runs today. The game is heading the way fo a draw and the West Indians will have to bat through tommorow and then bowl out the Pakistanis on the final day if they are to have a hope of winning. Lets just hope he day finishes well and puts the game in a position for an exiting final few days.

As the West Indians come back out after Tea

hussain5th.jpg

Nasser : So the West Indians have come out after tea and taken the three final wickets. After just 16 minutes of play teh Pakistanis are back in the hutch and ready to come out to field for about an hour and a half. Omari banks took the first wicket after only 3 balls of play taking Mushtaq bowled on 48 to leave the score poised on 365-8. The next two wickets came both at the hands of LAwson both with the same delivary, the back of a lenght ball that doesnt do much, first Ahmed, caught on the back foot chipped it up to a man on teh drive and then the very next ball knocked out teh off stump off Asif to leave the Pakistanis all out and trailing by 132 runs. With bowling stats of 5 wickets for 94 runs Lawson is the pick of the bowlers, keeping up good pace and only be played calmy by the man of the innings Inzamam Ul Haq. Keep tuned for the rest of the session.

Here are the scorecards from the innings.

Stay tuned for the West Indian Innings.

Just a quick overview of the first hour and a half of the west inian Innings. Gayle came out to bat and was gone four balls later clipping one straight to the hands of square leg for a four ball duck. After a steady parnership of 45 Sarwan went for 20 off 43 caught behind pushing at one that jsut nipped away. At the close of play the score is 52-2 with LAra and Hinds at teh crease. Tommorows play is set to be very exciting lets just hope you are ther. Thankyou.

Gayle doesnt quite get under the ball enough to get it over square leg and it pouches safely in his hands.

Sarwan pushes at an away swinger and clips it straight to the keeper 45 for 2 adn the Pakistanis are extatic.

Fourth and Penultamate Day

sarwangoesey9.png

Pommie Mbangwa : Good morning and i am here im the room with Brian Lara and Inzamam here two hours before the start of play, Brian you and Wavell will be heading out in a few hours and what are the tactics for todays play?

Brian Lara : Well Pommie obviously the first one to build a partnership and get the score above a 300 run lead. Then declare and try to bowl out the Pakistanis before the end of teh fifth day.

Pommie Mbangwa : And you plans as to the rest of the day and therefore the test?

Inzamam Ul Haq : Well yes i have to admit after being over 100 runs short of the Windies we were worried but as the pitch detiorates i think we could very easily topple them out and find ourselves chasing under 300.

Pommie: Yes and Gayle has now dissapointed in both innings what are your views on that for the remainder of the series, will he be able to pull his boots up and play as we all know he can or will he slump down and stay out of form?

Test Batting
Runs:4121
Average:38.88
Highest:317
Hundreds:7
Fifties:25
Test Bowling
Wickets:49
Average:37
Best:5-34

Inzamam : Yes my views of Gayle are high and as a few of the batsmen have shown so far in teh test, the tracks we are playing on are perfect for batting. I jsut hope we can continue to keep gayle stuck in a tough situation finding it ahrd to score runs.

Brian Lara: Yea im great friends with Chris, Freddie and I know he will produce the goods and score runs in the upcoming games. But all we now want is to have our minds set on winning this test and achieving the goal.

Pommie: I dont want to hold you any longer, so good luck with the task in hand.

Brian and Inzamam walk of to their respective changing rooms

Pommie: Now lets get on with the cricket and hope we have an exciting game on our hands. Thankyou

And so here they are for the Fourth days play the fans are clapping out the Pakistanis, and her are Lara and Hinds huge pressure lies on the shoulders of Brian Lara as they will want to be scoring at a quick rate this morning

For the first 10 minutes of play Lara went through hell edging thorugh the slips 3 times and playing and missing nearly a dozen times. Eventually the ball hit in line and lara went for a pathetic 7 off 35 balls. The game now seems as if it could go either way.
cricket2007060817515185rl7.png

Atherton: Well hello, its lunch and the score is 167-3. After the departure of Lara after only 10 minutes. The flood gates opened as Chanderpaul and Hinds played their strokes and added over 100 runs from teh session at a good pace. Suddenly the West Indians are going at good pace and are right back on top.

Quick Runs, Lets Hope

27s_richie_wideweb__430x299.jpg

Richie: Good afternoon and we have seen a great session for batting, chanderpaul and Hinds will resume after the break and hope to continue in the way they where going before lunch.

Hinds batted very well before being caught wonderfully behind the stumps by Kamran Akmal on 84. He has batted very well and it had to be something magic to remove him.

Wickets fell left right and center after this young man Khan going for a big hoy over cow corner and getting clean bowled by Asif for 13. Following 3 balls later was Bravo for a 3 ball duck and then in the next over omari banks was caught deep again of the bowling of Asif. His tight line and lenght has produced the goods and with West Indies 238 for 7 and in serious trouble with figures of 24-3 of 13 overs he has controlled the innings.

Although all seems negative Chanderpaul has scored a fabulous century and will look to advance at serious pace after tea. It looks as if this game could go either way and its all up to character now.

Chanderpaul came out and was caught behind in with the second ball of the session. Immediatly Lara called the men in to save Lawson having to go out. The game is currently at a knife edge and needing just under 400 in 4 sessions the game is tilting towards Pakistan for the first time in the series
