Silesian Eagles look to pull off MASSIVE coup

Silesian Eagles had a fantastic run in the Polish Shield last year, but ultimately came up short in the final to the Polish Capitals. However they are the first domestic team looking to make major moves in their bid to secure a trophy for their club in the 2002 season. Bronislaw Aleks one of Poland's brightest and best players, who currently averages 46 in international cricket, has been offered a contract that the Lodz Lions simply may not be able to match. As well as another Polish International Aureliusz Milogost, who was 3rd top scorer in the shield last season looking to be taken away from the Wroclaw Bears. With Silesia already having 3 international players on their roster, Waldemar Justyn, Wilhem Gawel and Polish Shield player of the tournament Stainslaw Sebastain, it could prove that Silesia will be a massive force to be reckoned with in the upcoming season.

Polish Cricket Association to Consider Allowing International Stars into Domestic System

Following the resounding success of Polish Cricketers, Bronislaw Aleks and Manfred Miloslaw in the Danish Domestic Season and the International Captain, Gustaw Walter, currently playing in England, the PCA has considered the idea of allowing foreign players to participate in the domestic leagues of Poland.

While it will only be the 2nd season of the Polish domestic season, and the PCA having a strong emphasis on developing its youthful talent, they have seen the benefits international stars can have on domestic competitions. While is undecided just how many players would be allowed per team, it is certainly an avenue the PCA are interested in going down to improve the domestic scene.

Bronislaw Aleks dominated with the bat in Denmark, with 652 runs @ 59.3 in the first class competition, and 773 runs @ 64.4 in the OD competition. His brilliance with the bat in the OD competition saw him earn a place in the Danish OD Team of the Season, the only foreign player to make the team. Midtjylland the team which Aleks played for would unfortunately lose the final series 2-1 to Hovedstaden despite finishing on top of the league table with 7 wins from 10.

Manfred Miloslaw would not see the same success as Aleks, but certainly didn't make a fool of himself in Denmark. Batting in the middle order and wicketkeeping for Syddanmark, he would make 378 runs @ 34.4 in the first class tournament, and 415 runs at 51.9 in the OD competition. Syddanmark would finish 2nd in the first class league, and 3rd in the OD league.

The question now becomes will the PCA see the success of their own players abroad, and welcome international players to apply their trade in Poland, or will their focus on youth development lead to them choosing against inviting overseas players.

Bronislaw Aleks Overseas Success adds to the Transfer Drama​

Bronislaw Aleks has recently returned from a brilliant few months in the Danish domestic system. Making over 1400 runs between the formats, he has now returned home straight into a baptism of transfer rumour. The hottest thing on the block, at least in Poland, is the 24 year old. The Silesian Eagles were already keen to get the signature of Bronislaw Aleks before he left for Denmark, however when Bronislaw refused to commit until after the Danish season, it was all put on hold. Now that he is back home in Poland, it has all kicked off again.

There has been no formal comment from Lodz, but the general consensus is they are going to play hard ball, if the Eagles want to pry Aleks away from Lodz. Aleks is under contract for one more year with Lodz, forcing Silesia's hand to either give a healthy financial sum, or a player(s) in exchange. With no transfer having been done in Polish history, it's hard to actually know what this financial sum could possibly be, and you would imagine that it would take at least 2, and maybe 3 players to possibly pry the international superstar away from Lodz.

The only thing that remains a mystery... what does Aleks actually want too do. He has never made comment on what his preference is, and with the time counting down quickly before the start of the domestic season, one can only imagine he will need to make a decision soon.
