Story Political Nightmare - Zimbabwe ICC05

Sri Lanka vs Zimbabwe, 2nd Test, 9th March 2007

Same team, with another win in mind.

sritest2tk7.png

Sri lanka again batted well and set another big first innings score of 543 all out, Zimbabwe content with the draw set about biulding a score at a steady rate. This nearly back fired when Sri Lanka ripped through the top and middle order to 103-3 when Went (in only his second game) and Streak started a promising partnership but that was stopped on 63 when Streak and then Strang fell leaving Zimbabwe on a very sorry 166-7. Went carry on his magnificent effort with an 105 9th wicket partnership with Rinke to pull Zimbabwe upto an impressive 318 all out.

The top and middle order found it easier in the second innings however Went got a second ball duck after his 107* from the first innings.

Good bowling by Zimbabwe, but sloppy batting loses them the game.

Its April and time for the 2007 ICC World Cup in the West Indies.

It's going to be an enthralling campaign this year as emerging countries Zimbabwe and Bangledesh have shown some promise in the OD format over the last few years.

Favourites and holders Australia recently lost to the West Indies in ODI series both at home and away in the past 2 years, also going down spectacually 3-0 to Zimbabwe.

The group stages are upon us first.
The groups line-up like this;

The question remains though, who will progress to the super 8's, and who most importantly will win the coverted ICC World Cup trophy??

Australia vs West Indies
Zimbabwe vs India

Ive only just caught up with this story and after reading it i am quite amazed! How do you beat the Aussies with Zimbabwe! Thats phenomonal! Good pres aswell - KUTGW! :D

LOL!!

Sensible tactics.

Anyways thy beat me this time around, so Im going to hope the Windies beat them again to give me a winable final, if I can sqeeze past India again!!

You should have seen that game, they scored like 50 runs off the last 25 overs or something daft!!

They needed 2 to win off the last over but I got a maiden!! With some imaginative field setting :p
