Im going to try take Zimbabwe from 10th in both test and one day all the way to the top.

Zimbabwe vs New Zealand, 1st Test Match, 2nd October 2005.

The dream starts here!


This is the team I have picked for the first match.

After some hard crueling effort, Zimbabwe saw off the New Zealand attack for over a day to fight out a deserved draw!

Means if I can get lucky and win the next test I win the series


Zimbabwe vs New Zealand, 2nd Test Match, 9th October 2005

My team for the second match has changed slightly with the addition of a leg-spinning all-rounder.

A magic game between these two nations. New Zealand lost 2 early wickets but a great 3rd wicket stand held Zimbabwe off as the batsmen took control.
Grant Ewing however had a fine first innings as Zimbabwe responded with a bang getting within 100 runs of the tourists.
Zombabwe's bowlers however didn't fire for the second innings and New Zealand were able to take it until nearly the end of the morning session on day 5 before they finally declared leaving Zimbabwe a massive 308 runs to win of barely 70 overs!!
A rapid start from the openers was foiled by steady wicket taking left Zimbabwe on 168-7 with a player injured as Streak and Rinke were at the crease.
With 140 more runs to score and time fast running out, were they going to defend out the game and take a draw? Or be bold and go for the victory??

Yep as you can see they went for it and conquered!!!

Upto 9th in the tests already!!

Zimbabwe vs New Zealand, 1st ODI, 15th October 2005

I have made a complete change in my squad now for the ODI's! Look at more ODI scoring players and bowlers, theres a few however that meet both.

A terrific bowling performance from Zimbabwe stiffled the early batting from the New Zealand and caused them to be 74-4 and 90-4 after 30 overs.

They faught back but in vein amassing a mere 200 runs. A sinche for the on-form, confidence gaining Zimbabweans.
And it proved so, with a 7 wicket victory with 2.4 overs to spare.

1-0 Zimbabwe, is it time to move up the ODI chart too?


Zimbabwe vs New Zealand, 2nd ODI, 17th October 2005

I have gone with an unchanged squad. As if you couldn't have guessed.

Yet another superb bowling performance by Zimbabwe managed to make New Zealand stumble again!

Not as convincing with the batting this time around but Zimbabwe held on and knocked off the runs with 3.4 overs to spare.

2-0 in the series to Zimbabwe, 9th place here we come!

Sure you can guess this bit

A similar bowling performance again. What more can I say New Zealand didn't look like they stood a chance!

Zimbabwe lost a few more wickets this time late on chasing but made it in the end.

3-0 to Zimbabwe, a complete whitewash! And people thought this would be a challenge


So here it is, the summary of New Zealands visit.

A Test series win and a One Day series win.

Things have started well here for my campaign but to start with Im at home so I still dont know how I will fair on tour.

Next up, are India in Zimbabwe, should be yet another easy time

Thanks, I am on normal before people start claiming otherwise!!

I'm dreading retirements though, it will mean I'll have to play kids and I dont really want to do that although I have picked a few already and they are doing great.

Strange thing is I've got New Zealand again after the India series.

Best thing about being Zimbabwe though is that theres only ever 2 Tests in a series and 3 ODI's.

This means less work has to be done to get up the ladder but even still hard enough!

Zimbabwe vs India, 1st Test, 24th October 2005

Another series at home, but a slightly new team picked.

Will the slight changes be able to carry the team forward to some more shocking results?

A huge victory for India. Things started well for Zimbabwe as the visitors were 167-5 at one point but then a 230 partnership changed things for them. Zimbabwe were then brushed a side by the Indian bowlers, just 2 sessions short of a draw.

A rather convincing bowling performance by Zimbabwe inspired a great victory and a drawn series!


Zimbabwe vs India, 1st ODI, 5th November 2005

Yet another different line up for the One dayers.

A dramatic first ODI on all accounts but in the end only one winner...

The game hung in the blanace for its majority but the final few overs were too much for India to deal with needing 14 off them and only scoring 6 for one wicket.

1-0 to Zimbabwe, another ODI surprise?? Another whitewash??
