On the 1st Ramadan this year, which was the 13th of September here, I couldn't wake up before dawn and eat to begin my fast. Fortunately you don't have to eat in order to begin your fast, therefore I remained from eating anything until sunset, which translates into more or less 20 hours of abstention (And mind you it was a regular school day).Ramadan Karim folks. Today is the first Roza. Man after P.E i was soooo thirsty but what can you do.
You eat in the morning for straight 1 hours and 7 minutes!!Happy Ramadan Mubarak Guys.
Well first I get up at 4:00am and eat until 5:07am. From then on you cannot eat or drink anything till it goes dark (e.g. Here in Sheffield, 7:27pm)
It's especially hard as I am the only Muslim in my year and at dinner time they eat and you can smell chips, sandwiches etc. Well not 3 hours and 8 minutes to go![]()

Here, the duration of abstention for the first of Ramadan (for this year) was 14 hours and 17 minutes. Since winter is fast approaching, the starting of fasting will be delayed about 1-3 minutes each day, while sunset or the ending of abstention will arrive 1-3 minutes each day-meaning that the duration of abstention will reduce about 4 minutes each day.
The Islamic calendar is a lunar year, therefore depending on the moon, the month of Ramadan may last 29 or 30 days-we will not be able to know until the 29th day to see if the (last) crescent of the moon is sighted, therefore marking the end of the month. However, if it is not sighted on the 29th of the month, it will mean that we fast for one more day before we celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr.I no about the sunset to dusk thing, i mean how many days.
And by the way, Happy Ramadan to all too.
