Rugby 2008

Two questions, ive searched Google but obviously things are differnt.

Is the game released?

And is it released for Xbox 360?

Thanks to whoever helps :)

I've got the game, don't have the time to play it atm, hopefully I'll have more time tonight. If you want any screenshots just let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Could you post up a picture of Shane Gerraghty in his London Irish kit (if EA have bothered to include him in the roster) or Mike Catt in his London Irish kit when you've got the time?
Thanks in advance:cheers

Ok my short review after a few friendlies.

First up went with Australia against Scotland at Telstra Stadium(called Australia Stadium in game). For me the ground looked very realistic and having the cameras going off at the start added a bit more realism. I can't remember what it was like in Rugby 06 as I hardly played on that ground. I took a screenshot so you decide if it's changed.

The player models haven't been changed from Rugby 06. The commentary is exactly the same as Rugby 06 so got very repetitive. One thing they have changed is added a bit more sound in the crowd. The Aussies sing Waltzing Maltida now.

The gameplay has changed slightly, the AI star players actually make a big difference in particular BOD who on club level just tore me apart breaking through my tackles easily and then finishing it off under the sticks. Was surprised when I saw the AI 10 kicking for his winger rather than touch. I thought once the kick had been made I'll be fine but next thing I know the winger is catching the ball and scoring a try.

So far I haven't been able to score those easy tries by just passing out wide and letting my speedsters run through the gap. I would say this is cause I keep changing camera angles and it's my first game in a while. When I used my step I beat the fullback easily.
The reviews I've read have said the goal line defence tightens up when you are 5m out. I haven't seen this yet but I have noticed it isn't too hard if you just pick up with the halfback and run. Also using the Hover camera I have seen a number of overlaps on the blindside.

They have added new camera angles and now give you the ability to choose how close the camera is. From super near to super wide. It appears kicking has been made harder with the side camera angle. I'm sure in 06 I could see where I was kicking the ball with the side view. Now I can't see past halfway with this angle so it's more of a rushed kick.

The players stats is a real let down looked like an absolute noob did it. A number of players have the wrong positions and I suspect a number of other stuff are wrong. Take Huxley who can play number 8 in this game! They have added a few more star players from Rugby 06 but that's little consolation.

If there is anything else you want to know just ask, that's all I can think of right now.

Here is a professional review which I would agree with so far.

Has anyone got it on PC yet? If so, could you post your opinions on gameplay mainly, followed by sound/GFX?

Thanks.

Nice. I am not much of a union fan (prefer league) but that Telstra Stadium doesn't look to shabby.

Started playing the Super 14 with the Brumbies. I've noticed that with the end on camera the players run a lot slower than the other camera angles. The Hover one seems to be the best for running footy.

I like the new addition of the scrum and maul gague which tells you how much power you have in your scrum/maul. There was one maul where I wasted all my power up too early and the AI was able to free ride my maul from their 22 to my 22! The wheeling the of the scrum looks a lot more realistic this time round.

Again the stats are really poor I hope a patch from TRF comes out soon to fix this as a number of players in the Brumbies aren't in the right pos.

Nice review, I totally agree with you on the stats front. For example they have Dan Ward Smith down as a centre only wheras he is a NO.8 in real life and Lewis Moody as a flanker and centre wheras he is only a flanker. Bit of a let down regarding stats and the roster, but it is a very enjoyable game. Seeing as I have the game on PS2 I will have to edit the rosters myself, which will take aaaaageeessss!!!:mad

I have the game on PC. It's not too bad. They just got a lot of things with the players wrong. The AI is a bit better but I still win too easily. I thrashed USA in the World Cup on Elite 114-3

I don't mind that, as long as you can't dish out similar thrashings to the All Blacks et all...

Does anyone know anywhere, like Planetcricket, where there are downloads for rugby 06/rugby 08?

Cheers
