The second half from england was poor, just seem to lose all flair, When they dont have the ball for long periods of time when they get it they kick it, But the first half was excellent!!

People, remember that Italy did improve as well and took the game to England - they did well to get back into it. It wasn't England almost throwing it away, it was Italy almost winning...if only the lineout had been better...

Wilkinson should get an injury anyway, we need Cipriani, he might screw up but he might win us the game and I can't see anyone else in the side including Wilkinson winning us the game. I wouldn't mind Gavin Henson breaking his leg though, horrible horrible man.

A great Classic win by England. Nick Easter was awesome and deserved MOTM. Wilkinson was class and the whole team were good. If only we could play france every week :)

Nice result for Ireland, yet they're still not operating at full tilt.

Good to see O'Connell back, too.

a much better 2nd half performance from england, in defnece we were fantastic and going forward we looked a little better, the volcano got a little bit more involved, no ware near as much ball as i was hoping he would get but at least he got more than in the last 2 games, wilko played wonderful as well, good kicking from hand, strong in defence and didnt get bothered by 2 missed pens, he just sloted over the next from the half way line to get a 9 point lead, hopefully we can build on this against the scots next week and start to keep the ball better

SIX NATIONS 2008
Round Three - Sat 23 Feb

Results

WALES 47 - 8 ITALY (HT: 13-8)

IRELAND 34 - 13 SCOTLAND (HT: 14-6)

FRANCE 13 - 24 ENGLAND (HT: 7-13)

Table

1. WALES 6pts (+61)
2. IRELAND 4pts (+21)
3. FRANCE 4pts (+15)
4. ENGLAND 4pts (+8)
5. ITALY 0pts (-48)
6. SCOTLAND 0pts (-57)

So, Wales thrashed the Italians with an efficient and clinical second half performance - much improvement from the Welsh here despite the fact that the Italians were poor in the second half.
Ireland ease to a win over Scotland after Scotland fail to take their chances (once again) - although they did finally score a try sometime in the 2nd half.
England produce a tournament changing "shock" in Paris (where France are never a great team) with, surprisingly, a good second half performance.
That leaves the table as it is above, with Wales, Ireland, France & England still all able to win the championship. Great tournament this year!

Looking Ahead...

Round Four promises to be crucial in the outcome of this year's Six Nations.
Firstly, Wales, 3 from 3, travel to Dublin to play at Croke Park against a rejuvinated Ireland team. With both teams seemingly on a confidence high, this match should prove to be a cracker - especially with the chance of Wales winning the triple crown here - and virtually winning the championship due to their huge points difference. An Ireland win, however, would once again pull the championship level.
Then England travel up to Murrayfield, looking to continue this small improvement in their away form (although they still have only won 3 times in the last 17 matches away (minus World Cup)). Scotland will be hoping and praying that England don't get gifted anything in the Calcutta Cup match. Scotland will be trying their hardest to win this in an effort to avoid 6th place.
France host Italy at the Stade de France after their defeat to the English at home. Two wounded sides may come out fighting strong and this match could prove to be excellent - although would seem to be too much for Italy, you can never tell. If Italy won here, France's chance of the championship would (almost) be over.

My (Stupid) Predictions

Ireland 23 - 18 Wales
Scotland 18 - 14 England
France 34 - 14 Italy

Which would set the championship up for a nice ending in Cardiff with Wales V France in week 5.

Could happen, although unlikely...it would help us out too :p:cool:

Are you on Drugs? We will not lose to Scotland.

If England lose to Scotland i would be amzed it is very open this year and looks like it will end in a thriller!

We probably will lose to Scotland, like the Welsh they have a pathetic hatred of England and will see this game as their cup final raising their game a lot. We might win but I don't think we have the consistency and I still wouldn't pick Wilko, will he be there in 2011? No and if he is he'll be holding the very talented Cipriani back. Good tournament this year though.

The obsession with building teams for the future in England is why we do not do well at sport. Jonny Wilkinson is a brilliant player, his kicking is among the best in the world, he is the best there is in his position at this time. He probably won't be playing in 2011, no, but it isn't 2011! England need to pick the best team to win this Six Nations tournament in 2008. We will think about 2011 in mid 2010.

Wilkinson will be 32 in 2011, how can you be so certain that he won't be playing? The only question mark over Wilkinson is if he can stay fit. I completely agree with Lee that there is this obsession of constantly building for the future, in all sports, in this country. At some point the future has to become the present. Cipriani is very, very young, his time will come. There is one player who has to get the boot now however, that's Ian Balshaw, he's been dreadful.

I'm amazed that a couple of people think we'll lose to Scotland. They haven't looked a threat to anyone with ball in hand. Yes I know it's the Calcutta cup and the history between us and Scotland, but really, if we lose to Scotland we'll only have ourselves to blame.
