Yup - exactly.Too many people go into their shell when the opposition sledges. That's only going to make them sledge harder. I lap it up. Either by making a joke with them, or beating down whatever stupid comment they made, just make sure you're talking. Normally I find they shut up pretty soon after, realising it is having no effect on me, and I'm making more noise than they are as a team.
If I am batting and am being sledged, I jut chirp back, have fun, and bait them. I dont get worked up - I just relax and have a bit of fun.
Only once was I rattled by sledging. 'Hey dude, do you like porn? I'll send you this link. I found your Mum sucking off a horse.' I was 16 at the time playing A grade cricket. Had no idea what to do or say back and was rattled.
I usually don't sledge batters. I focus on prasing our bowlers and fielders.
