Too many people go into their shell when the opposition sledges. That's only going to make them sledge harder. I lap it up. Either by making a joke with them, or beating down whatever stupid comment they made, just make sure you're talking. Normally I find they shut up pretty soon after, realising it is having no effect on me, and I'm making more noise than they are as a team.

If I am batting and am being sledged, I jut chirp back, have fun, and bait them. I dont get worked up - I just relax and have a bit of fun.

Only once was I rattled by sledging. 'Hey dude, do you like porn? I'll send you this link. I found your Mum sucking off a horse.' I was 16 at the time playing A grade cricket. Had no idea what to do or say back and was rattled.

I usually don't sledge batters. I focus on prasing our bowlers and fielders.

Someone batting against us was bragging about how he averaged 72 against our team, and he was walking his singles like Ranatunga and sledging while he did it.

A fielder in our team had enough of him walking singles so he chucked the ball at him and said "Run you fat ****!".

Without seeing it as particularly clever or witty, I wish I was there. That's the funniest one I've heard of.

You could've commented on the fact that he watches porn which includes horses being sucked off. You could've commented on the fact it could've been incest as you are hung like a horse. You could've told him he was crap at cricket. So many options, really.

I love sledging when im not bowling cause im usually at point or in short.

I was once out in the field and i knew this guy was just a blocker, so all i did was count his blocks. I got upto 16, then he tried to slog one and hit it out of the park, out went middle

i just tend to laugh at sleging, doesnt really phase me.
one guy was having a horrible day fielding, dropped about 3 catches. then one of the crowd called out " this guy couldnt catch a cold, thet alone catch the ball"

Well actually someone said to me after bowling a bouncer "lets get his girlfriend out here i'm sure she doesn't mind balls to her face". Lol i get a lot of **** when my girl watches me play...

After we got one wicket:"come on boys lets rip through this tail".

Or perhaps you don;t require much of sledging effort to be got out?

I hate sledging, and when I get it, I cop it quietly and let my bat/ball talk.

As someone has already mentioned, start counting how many times a batsman leaves or blocks if he is particularly defensive, then mention it to him. Most of the time, it really gets to them, so they start swinging. Then start counting their play and misses, and tell it to them.

It gets them thinking "Why is he counting these?", "I'll show him!". Haha.

I dunno why, But whenever a batsmen comes in with a new bat in a pressure situation, Our Wicketkeeper always says, "Shiny new bat lads, Lets se if he can use"

Somehow it always make them somewhat angry and they end up throwing their wicket away, It works.

I'm more of a fan of the psychological sledging. Telling them they're under pressure, making them believe they're useless and giving the bowler encouragement instead of just saying stuff like "i rooted your mum last night"

Just stare at the batsmen with a blank expression and say that he is sh!t. It works.
