Won't be surprised if Lanka is bowled out tonight and the test is over tomorrow.
Couldn't expect a D/N Test to go post the 3rd Day unless it's a dead track.

What do you reckon needs to change over here? I don't get a good feeling about these 5-Day D/N games. Does a 3-day D/N game doesn't suffice the need?

These are all atrocious adverts for test match cricket. There is no competition here between bat and ball. The same is happening in Pakistan at the moment and dare I say the WI as well.

Test cricket needs two tiers to stay relevant. If you remove India's mass market from cricket, there would actually be a chance to make cricket matches relevant again!

This inning right here is why Iyer is so important. People asking to chop Iyer off this side are the ones who will complain India has no stable batsman.

Also Pant’s inning is why Pant is in the XI. A Saha would have not done that and no disrespect to him. He completely negated all the disadvantages of the pitch.

Pink Ball tests should officially be 4 days matches. Even 4 days is one too many day! Hopefully we can dismiss the tail today quickly. Fingers crossed Virat gets a good game!

Assuming the match is totally in India's grasp now, this part of the forum would go inactive. :)

Ideal series this for India from a WTC perspective. Otherwise a pretty dull tour this for Sri Lanka. Wouldn't want to see India play them for ages now. It really does no good to either side but just does stats padding for the Indian team.

I am eagerly waiting to see how Shreyas handles SENA conditions. Seeing his short ball issues, I currently trust Shubman Gill over him, but if Shreyas can get through SENA conditions unscathed (i.e. get good runs there), then he'd have earned his test spot for good.

We've seen so many batsmen in the past look like tigers in home conditions, but absolute bunnies abroad. So its best to reserve judgement since we know Shreyas has a short ball problem.

My question is why don't we want Gill to open? I think he has done well in Australia and I see no reason to move him from there. And when it comes to Iyer, I don't think it is necessary to degrade him before he even plays in those conditions.

Why not wait for the moment to arrive than being negative from start itself?

We can see where Bumrah is today. Who could've thought he will play Test Cricket? Being a Rohit fan I was clearly against him opening in Test Cricket but since then he has been our best player in the longer format. Did we see that coming?

I don't understand why be so negative?

I have no idea why Mayank is in the XI. In squad yes, but he should have not played ahead of Gill as an opener. Gill had done nothing wrong before getting injured. I feel Gill and Iyer's position should not be up for debate and yes Iyer still has to prove in SENA conditions but he will.
