It's not going to attract anyone else to patching- if someone is dedicated enough to want to learn the stuff then they'll post where they see fit, you talk like someone's going to see a technical section or whatever and think "hey, I've just realised that my lifelong dream was to edit cricket games". In reality most newbies to patching will see a technical section and steer clear of it because of the connotations of the word itself.
The concepts you're discussing here are worthy of a few threads, which are naturally spread between C2k5, BLIC and Gen Chat. If you get a new forum we're going to have a Technical forum with a few threads a month, gen chat with nothing but "lol wats ur favrit colour" and such and c2k5 and BLIC forums with nothing but "how do u bat" or "this game sux". The reason you'd create a forum is to meet existing demand, say for example when we had about 5 milestone threads a day being posted we made the new subforum for it- what you're trying to do is create demand by making a new forum, doesn't work.
I disagree,
It will encourage more patchers,
1)New members will know exactly where to go if they are interested in the matter(most new members dont even know what all is inside the general forum etc, most wouldnt know that such things exist)
2)Even if some members are not deeply interested in patching, they may read the posts by others and generate interest from that.
3)Current patchers may also share their knowledge to improve their patching.
I generally agree that new sections should be made only when the others sections are being flooded with those topics, but for a technical section it is not the case,a new technical section encourages new posts and thread instead of vice-versa.
Your comment that if someone is really interested they would post is not applicable in many case. Many times we dont even know the a,b,c of a particular software, then we dont know how to start the thread, but if views are being exchanged in the technical thread by other members then this member automatically gains some information and he gets a basic idea on the matter after which if he has some query he can post a new thread or continue in the existing one.So what I mainly trying to say is that unless a technical section is opened there wont be any genuine interest towards patching.
SUPPORT THE TECHNICAL SECTION,ITS GOOD FOR THE PC COMMUNITY

You create a forum to meet demand, not to create demand.
There aren't many technical topics at the moment. If we put them all in separate forum, there still won't be many.
If people are interested in patching, they'll create patches wether or not there is a technical forum. A technical forum is not going to make more people patch the games. If anything, a technical forum will make it look like patching is something only for the few, something that is so hard it needs it's own discussion forum, and it would more likely put people of patching.
The purpose of this forum is not to encourage patching, as you say, it is to encourage discussion about Cricket games, and cricket itself. Patching is a natural byproduct of that, not the main point of this forum.
Well if you keep going that way soon the number of patchers will diminish considerably and the forum would be only a general cricket based forum.
Take an example, football,if the clubs had an attitude that we only care about football,if people are really interested in football they will automatically try themselves and become a footballer, football would have never been so popular, its because that the game is being encouraged and there are youth academies that we are seeing new players coming through.
Similarly we need to encourage patching in the comunity. If im not mistaken most people want to see this forum contribute more towards patching for future cricket games as well.Once again id like to repeat that i have nothing personal against any staff member, its my observation in the short period that I have been a member.
Also id like to add that why doesnt the staff try new things, evertime following a certain set of rules isnt a good idea, just try it out im sure it will be a good thing for the pc community, and pl try to understand that im saying all this because i care for this site and want it to improve otherwise i wouldnt have bothered.
Can u please explain what problems will occur on creating such a section,
Do u think the number of already so small active members will further reduce?
What is the problem you all see in making such a section?
