Support for a new Technical section

To make Planet Cricket better it needs to achieve these:

- A fresh new look for the website, sort of a 'decorating job'.
- A 'newbies' forum, where new users can introduce themselves (and find the FAQ quickly and easily).
- A Cricket Shopping forum, where users can showcase items and find a link to a buying page e.g Amazon.
- Cricket Coach to have its own forum.
- A Technical forum, where users can showcase their work and find help for programs e.g Windows XP.

Out of all those, only the Cricket Coach one has been granted! Planet Cricket is an awesome site, but the admin is quite stubborn!
It needs to? Or you think it needs to?

Brad youre still not getting my point,a technical thread will definately make more members see the threads and get involved in patching, gradually we wont be depending on the same ppl to make editors and patches for the future games.

If u asked the opinion of every member im sure the number of members for the forum will be a lot more than the one's against it.Ppl arent posting here either because they think their reputation will be spoiled if they support the idea.I think PC is a forum for the members rather than a forum for the admins.

I cant prove my idea,if u really want to see how good it is for the forum it has to be implemented by you.

We don't have to say anything, it just happens to be what we think. I noticed you said earlier that you got alot of support for the idea from pm's etc. Let's see how many have pm'd you about it then, show us and prove that its worth implementing the idea.

How many members are against the idea,3-4 as far as i can see,if u went along asking every active members including staff members,i can guarantee that the majority of them will be for the idea instead of against it.

The majority of people here would love for me to give them money for nothing, but it's not going to happen is it!

I just think you have admitted in your minds that we cant bring in new sections, once again i repeat that if u asked the opinions of everyone more ppl will support the idea than reject it

I'm not sure if a new section is needed. Why do you feel you need a whole section devoted to this, just because there isnt a specific section, it doesn't mean you can discuss the topic.
Instead of creating a thread complaining about the situation, why didnt you start a thread for technical discussion? You could start off by saying something like:

Use this thread to discuss technical issues regarding patching of Cricket2005, do not use for posting patches

If the thread got loads of replies maybe then a section could be started.

Funny you say that, the ICC 2005 records forum is all of about 2 weeks old- why was that made? Because records threads were taking over the other one. We're not resisting change for the sake of it, it's because we don't need it

The thing is, it doesn't even need to be restricted to one thread. We probably have 4 or 5 floating around at the moment about Photoshop, hex editing etc, and nothing prevents discussion in them.

Youre not understanding, this section isnt just for c2005 patching or something, its the place where ppl can discuss the a-z of patching and other technical issues.

If u start such a thread in c2005,noone will post a question like HOW CAN YOU EDIT IMAGES WITH PHOTOSHOP as its in no way related to cricket 2005.

That thread would belong here in general chat, and in fact there is already a thread dedicated to Photoshop and nothing prevents another being made. And what sort of a question is that anyway?

I think it's fair to see that we don't believe in change for the sake of change. If it was clear that these were issues that were driving members away or preventing new ones from joining then I'm sure they would be addressed. I hardly think that 550+ members online a day indicates that though. I'm not saying that innovation is a bad thing, I'm just saying that we're unlikely to spend large amounts of our time fixing problems that don't exist as opposed to doing everything else that is involved in running the forum.
If you want a technical forum here's what to do:

Start creating in General Chat or in the Computer Forum the sort of threads you think would go into a Technical Forum and when there are enough to justify it we will create the new sub-forum.

Ok brad,if you really want to solve this matter why dont u start a poll asking if we need a new section or not for a technical section with exactly the uses that i mentioned in the first post of this thread and then according to the number of votes in favour or against it we can decide if the section is needed. But if the no of votes in favour exceed the ones against then will u put a new section in or atleast a new subforum in an existing thread like the general forum?Pl let us know

I'm not really interested in a poll. Like I said you (the members) create the threads, we (the admin) will create the forum.

The number of people that would vote for it is not the issue, it's the number that would use it- and those people that would use it are already involved in the discussion threads in the existing forums, there isn't enough demand for a new forum. Simple as that

Its a question someone who has photoshop but doesnt know even the abc of photoshop will ask.
If someone has a $1500 program and needs to ask a question like that, it's safe to assume they didn't pay for it.

Ok colin,i can start threads if i want but what if i start threads asking technical question, but uall just coz ure against me dont even bother replying there.

Eg-If i ask something that you know but what if u dont reply just coz im asking it.

Also if the threads start then u will say that they are threads made by me so u wont consider putting them in a different forum.

Finally many members dont know that they can post in technical questions in a different thread, how are we going to tell them to start technical topics.

You dont have to always pay to buy every software,it can be exchanged among friends.

Oh for goodness sake, do you really think we're as petty as that!
