Congrats to Czech Republic first country to win a gold medal at this Olympics. China followed soon after.

Must say the coverage over here in NZ has been awesome so far, we got 4 channels with 2 on TV and 2 streaming online with all 4 able to be seen online in NZ. 3 of them seem to have no ads
Cycling has been interesting so far.

Womens volleyball team pwnzword the Russian team. Our rower just got second place which puts her through to the qualifiers and the mens volleyball team beat Georgia in the first set so we are looking good on the first day. Plus we drew against Serbia in soccer on thursday.

Spain are having a fantastic summer! They won Wimbledon, Euro 2008, the Tour de France and now the men's road race in the cycling here.

The opening ceremony was awesome. Very few references to the communist regime, more about a celebration of the culture and history of China. The athletes' parade drags on, it always does, but they are required to have it.

Micheal Phelps! World Record holder!

Swam the perfect race, paced himself and gave it all during the breast stroke to distance himself from the crowd. He goes to a college just 30 minutes away from here, i'm probably going to go there too!

Aussie first gold medal goes to Stephanie Rice. Got of to a flyer and her and Convetry tore apart Hoff.
Not a good end in the relay though was expecting more from Campbell, she left way too much for the others to make up.

I can't wait to see Vijender Kumar box in the round of 16. He recently defeated the Athens gold medalist, so he's in with a real chance to medal.

The dependable Trickett gets our only gold for the day in the pool. Congrats to the US relay team truely awesome final swim by Krejaz (sp) and it keeps Phelps 8 gold medals alive. Thought the French had it with the fastest man in the world swimming that last leg but he choked big time.

What a reaction for Michael Phelps after that nail-biting finish. His 8 gold's are still alive. I was watching handball, Brazil v Hungary, and Hungary scored in the last second to tie. very good match.

We had a good come from behind win in the Hockey. 4-1 down to 5-4 victory.

I thought we played very good in the soccer and deserved to score one but Archie Thompson blundered a few chances. But overall a god performance for us.
