Its pretty simple. Name your favorite local beer. Name your favorite import beer. Name your favorite type of beer. You may name more than one for any category. :cheers

Local: St. Arnold's Texas Wheat (US), Fireman's #4 (US), Kingfisher (India)
Import: Dos Equis (Mexico), Warsteiner (Germany)
Type: Pale Lager

Share the beer knowledge!*

I need a new beer. I have been drinking a lot of cider recently but I swear ever since I got ill from drinking a lot of it, it's been doing some funny things to me :D

I used to be into superbock. Any reccomendations on good stuff please. ;)

There're plenty of good beers out there. I've personally never had (or even heard of!) Superbock!

I guess I can reveal my ulterior motive in this thread, which is essentially what you want: new beers to try. My troubles with finding a decent Australian import spurred me to do this. I've tried Foster's and hate it. What I'm sipping on now is something called "Cooper's Extra Stout". I've never been into dark beers and this one is incredibly dark. It's like a meal in and of itself.

Oh, and Beer Advocate is the site to be for anyone who hasn't heard of it. I have not really used it, but I've heard great things about it.

Still waiting for someone to come in from the pub with loads of suggestions ;) Fosters seems to be the beer of choice for local chavs around me at the minute.

I have an entire thread dedicated to beer somewhere

But if you are interested I'm currently trying out Stella Artois' new 4% triple filtered lager. Not bad! Although I am more of a Real Ale drinker, when I am drinking lager its either Stella or a German Lager. Can't beat German lagers the purity laws in Germany guarantee minimal hangovers as there are no chemicals in the beer.

Sohum, not tried many American Beers and those I have tried I haven't been very happy with, but I always appreciate a nice cold Sam Adams. Availability is always a plus :D

I wouldn't use Fosters to flush my toilet let alone drink it. (unless of course it's the only thing available)

Stella is good. German lagers are delish.

Commercial American beers are pretty crappy. I think the only one that is really imported that is good is probably Sam Adams. There are a lot of really good microbreweries here, though, such as St. Arnold's and Fireman's which I've mentioned. Shiner is also a huge beer in Texas and pretty awesome.

But the trifecta of Bud, Coors and Miller.... are just.... ugh.

Yeah, I have actually looked at getting specific beers imported, there are companies who you can buy from, rather than relying on supermarkets but it does seem like an awful lot of hassle when I can pop to my local corner shop and buy 6 Holstens for a fiver. There are a couple of specialist retailers I frequent so I shall look out for your recommendations :drink

I have a personal liking for Belgian beer. Found it out when I was there with some mates and although it cuts straight through you it is certainly the best beer I have ever had. Only problem is that it's rather expensive.

Same apart from Bud, I avoid Fosters like the plague. Always gives me a headache and tastes like p***
