...Hello and welcome back to Hornet Sports for live action from England's final warm-up match. England had an extremely bad first innings and only put 125 on the board...

...It is going to be Deitz and Elliott opening, and they will want to get South Australia off to a positive start.

England Take 4 Quick Wickets!

England are well on top here and South Australia have only reached 32 and are 4 wickets down. Harmison has taken two of them and Panesar and Hoggard have got one each. The bowlers will have to keep the pressure on though because one partnership of length would take south Australia above England's total.

The Partnership Has Come!

South Australia have now gone above England's total thanks to Dietz and Ferguson who have put on more than 100 for the 5th Wicket. This has been a damaging stand for England.

Wickets fall but the runs are piling on

England are taking wickets but they are conceding big runs in between them. The highlights so far of this innings for South Australia have been Deitz's very well played 92 and Manou's 80. Cullen has also looked good while he has been in.

England wrap up the innings

South Australia have finished on 362 with all the English bowlers taking two wickets each. This gives them a lead of 237 and means that England do have a fighting chance of winning this game, but they will have to bat very well to do so.

...Hello and welcome back to Hornet Sports for live coverage of England's 2nd innings. They will want to improve vastly on their 1st innings and at least get a lead, even if it is not going to be enough. They will want to get off to a good start, and once batsman get in, if they get in, they will want them to go on and make a big score. So, that's enough for the build-up, the action is about to start.

...Here we go then, Alistair Cook is on strike, and he lets that one go past...

England look good

Andrew Strauss looks in very good touch after his 100 in the last game, and so does Alistair Cook, who has not looked his usual battling self so far in this tour.

England off to an absolute flyer!

England could not have hoped for much better as both Andrew Strauss and Alistair Cook have batted superbly and they have brought up the 150 partnership.

mammothopeningstandpz3.jpg

Cook gone, just short of a milestone

Cook has missed out on a well deserved 100 and has played very well to reach 87 off only 111 balls before being bowled by Shaun Tait. It was a straight ball, but Cook tried to play it into the offside and this brought about his downfall.

England don't stop there

Ian Bell has carried on the good work and along with Andrew Strauss have brought up the 50 partnership. However, Andrew Strauss has been dropped after edging to the keeper, Strauss was livid with himself, along with the keeper, as he does not want to blow it now like Cook had recently done.

Strauss gets to 100!

Andrew Strauss has shown what a rich vain of form he is in and has reached the landmark that only himself has been able to do on this tour. This is a concern to England, but Andrew Strauss is a definite positive, these knocks stand him in good stead for the upcoming series.

Bell, Collingwood and Pietersen all gone

England will be disappointed as they were in such a good position but it only looks respectable now. Flintoff and Strauss really need a large stand together to put the pressure back on the bowlers and back on South Australia. As for the wickets, Bell mistimed a drive and was caught at mid-off. For the second time in this match, he got out on 40, he needs to start converting these starts into big runs, especially in the Ashes. Collingwood tried to drive Cullen but the ball beat the inside edge and was too good for him. Pietersen will be very annoyed with himself though, he called a run that was never, ever on and payed the price with the bowler wiping off the bails.

Strauss is out after a respectable 5th Wicket stand with Andrew Flintoff

Strauss will be gutted to get out to such a lose stroke after really being set. It was a half-volley on leg-stump but he managed to miss it completely and was adjudged to be clearly out by the umpire. England are now in real danger of reaching a target that is well short of what they should have got.

The tail disappoint along with the keeper

Davies has flicked it to square leg in the air and has gone. Surprise, surprise, the tail all fall very cheaply as well and England are all out for 367. They will be very pleased with the score, but again it was Andrew Strauss who was the main contributer, and they could have got a lot more, if the middle order got their heads down and were prepared to graft.

tailfailtowagcq0.jpg
...Thats it then, as for the bowlers Cullen was the stand-out performer, but the question has to be asked, why did he not bowl more overs? He bowled very economically and picked up 4 wickets. Whereas the seam bowlers went around the park. They will be happy with what they have to chase, and will defiantly expect to reach the target of 131.

bowlingfiguresrx4.jpg

...This innings will be remembered for the starts that were not converted into 100s, but England can take a lot of positives from the way they have fought back in this match, even if they will probably lose. However, they will have to work on the mental side of making 100s and big ones at that, and we are sure here at hornet sports that this will be done by Duncan Fletcher and his staff.

...Thanks for listening to Hornet Sports and join us again later for the live action of the last innings of the match, where South Australia will be chasing 131 to win.

Thanks for all your comments keep them coming in, whether it be on how the actual game is going or the story itself. Thanks again, and I hope you are looking forward to the next update!

131 is not a difficult task to chase . Strauss played well but what happened to the rest.South Australia are winning this one.

Lol, yes it was realistic, but annoying at the same time! It should not be a difficult task to chase 131 of a flat pitch for South Australia.

Thanks for the comments again.
