Nice, thanks Harshshah. I'll have that fixed when I put out the next version shortly.

I'm just doing some final tests on the save/load functionality so that will be up and running within about an hour.

Also, you batting average is excellent! but... those crazy averages won't last much longer. I should have a test console for the batting / bowling engine up over the next few days. This will allow you to choose the match situation (i.e. pitch condition, batsmans rating, bowlers rating, form levels, age of the ball etc and then simulate deliveries. From this we will make sure that the appropriate things are happening. This will need to be tested and tweaked until it is working appropraitely, at which stage I will put it into the game.

Hey folks.

There is a new release of The Online Cricket Game ready for you to test.

The main changes relate to the first effort at implementing the new GUI from AounArts. This will take some time to get right so thanks to AounArts for helping to make it look pretty

The first class career progression should now be working correctly. I have not been able to find a major bug with this over my testing period but please let me know if you find any issues.

The save and load options should now also work no matter where you are up to in the game - again, I haven't been able to find any major bugs so please let me know if you do.

From here I need to fix the way the teams are implemented due to some issues I am having with that. I have all the required teams but need to recode how the teams are selected etc. I'll be adding in more teams over the next week with the hope of having them all in there by the middle of January.

If people can test and advise me how they get on, that would be great.

Hey Meet,

More bats, and other gear, will be included in the game over the next couple of months.

At the moment the priority is to get the batting and bowling performance engine working properly, fix up the load / save options for bowlers, and to work through improving the design of the site.

I'd like to hope that the shop will be a lot better, with more gear, by February / March 2011.

hey,tocg.I don't know if this has been suggested but if it is possible you could add manager interaction,family interaction,player interaction and all that to make it more realistic.Like if you have family problems your form will go down.If you have a bad relationship with your manager your chances of selection will go down,and if you have better player relationship your morale will go up.And you should add bookies into the game.And to make it realistic the bookies will vary by country like asian countries like India,Bangladesh will have more bookies and more match fixing offers and south africa also and Australia,New Zealand and others will have less bookies and less offers.This might be a bit confusing as I am just typing down what is coming to mind.

Nice ideas! I had considered bookies, but more for things like when you can't achieve a goal then a bookie would come and offer to help (i.e. pay the opposing team to drop catches etc) .. but i'll keep thinking on that one, nice feedback there. I definitely think, as this is based on being a cricket player, that we want to add in as many of these intracies as possible.

So bookies are definitely on the cards... issues with your manager I like as well, family... maybe.. will need to think further but again, nice to see your thinking outside of the box.

Keen to hear more ideas around other things that would affect a cricketer during his or her career..

thanks,mate.I will post more ideas and comments.And I think you should put more customization options like:left handed batsman or right arm fast medium type bowler and add all rounders to the game,it feels funny to see only specialist players.And add training like team training and stamina like too much training and your stamina will go down and if your stamina is too down you might get injured during the matches.

WTF, I scored like no boundaries in 7 T20 matches (12 even though I'm averaging over 100 as an opening batsman) and then I come out in my next game and hit 5 sixes and I score 35 off 14 balls with no fours.

Hey hedger,

Welcome back

The new performance engine is coming along. Although it is 10x trickier than I had initially thought.

I'm trying to work out a way for the delivery values to be distributed in a reasonably life like way. For this to happen I have to take into account batsman and bowler rating, pictch, weather, ball age, concentration, form, comfort at the crease etc... From the testing that I've done it seems reasonably straight forward for two players of equal strength to play reasonably against each other, but the hard part is making bad players do generally badly against good players.

Once I've flushed out the oddities of the test engine Ill put that up so that other can help me test and tweak.

This should hopefully be ready in a day or two. I've had my own version of it for a while but think I need more testers.

Hey hameed,

When you click to download the game you should select the Run or Open options. If you have the right version of Java installed it should open for you then.

If not, google 'java download' and download the latest version and try again.

Let me know if you still have issues and I'll see what else I can do for you.
