You've to be careful of free food..... you nearly always end up eating too much!??
But it does not matter how much we eat, we always feel hungry. We are always pushed to our limits. For eg. our RDM pulse Doppler radar classes started at 12:00 noon IST and it got over just an hour earlier. ie., 10:00 PM IST. We are at our very physical limits - just imagine nearly 8 hours of flying inside a cramped area with your legs folded and reaching +6 to -4 G's. 8 hours of flight in the Executive class of a passenger jet is itself tyring. What's more the weather is absolutely mayhem out here. Wind speeds upto 40 kph and monsoon weather. And, we have drills at 5:00 AM everyday.

P.S, I came third in class during the solo flight evaluation. :cheer:

Well, I got through to the NDA, but on orders by the Indian Govt., all the NDA Air Force trainess with FAA private pilot licences are now getting ready for service, having cut-short our course.

Well, the best way to join the Armed Forces is through the NDA. On admission into the NDA, you get to choose your choice of branch - Army, Navy or the Air Force.

Here are eligibility criteria for the NDA.

You must have passed or must be appearing for the Class XII board exams.
Unmarried male candidates only. ( Obviously :D )
Age between 17 to 19 1/2 years
Must be an Indian citizen.

The Selection procedure is the following:

1. A written examination held by the Union Public Public Service Commission.
2. An interview by the Service Selection Board to assess a candidate's officer potentialities (Intelligence and personality test). - Extremely important. This is where people get selected or get thrown out. There are no second chances. Don't be surprised if you have an Admiral, an Air Marshal and a General interviewing you.
3. A medical examination by a Service Medical Board.

A notice will be put up in the leading newspapers all over India ( I suggest getting 'The Hindu' ) each year inviting applications.

The copurse at the NDA is three years. You will get a B.A/B.Sc. degree from the Jawarharlal Nehru University, New Delhi on completion of the course.

The course includes getting a private pilot's license and basics of combat techniques. On completion of the course, you get into the respective branch and get another training period out there ( which is what I am in ) and then then, off you go, you are an officer in the Indian Armed Forces.

Also, there are other ways of getting into the Armed Forces, but they are extremely hard, and you will spend ages before you become a respected officer. On the contrary, the easiest way, is if you happened to be from the RIMC ( Rashtriya Indian Military Academy, Dehradun ) , you get through to the NDA without any sort of exams or interviews and fuss ( because, RIMC cadets are the best men in India B) ) - This is how I got through into the NDA and I am proud I am from the RIMC.

For any further details, you could PM or email me at [email protected]

P.S Do not expect me to reply immediately. Give me two days, because, I have absolutely no time to get online. I will have to find it out of some class finishing early. :D

Considering that you are in Hyderabad, you could even check out at Hakimpet ( Secundrabad ).

And, if you happen to get into the Armed Forces, it's no more 'Hey iniyan', it's 'Lieutenant Sir'. :D joking.
