Urgent Help Needed

Alright, so I just got rid of a virus last night and now my internet works fine. I can use Hamachi, MSN, utorrent, but I cannot browse webpages. Mozila opens and I know my net is working because it says connecting then suddenly stops saying:

The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading

The network link was interrupted while negotiating a connection.

Please help me out ASAP.

The Virus may be because of Utorrent, Because I previously had a Virus (Trojan) and as soon as I downloaded something of Bittorrent, I got a Windows Security message saying that the Trojan Virus was being blocked from going into my PC...

I've made some progress. By enabling the Windows Management Instrumentation I have consequently enabled Internet Security Center which just disappeared earlier. It doesn't show the same message now. The internet still works but it shows the normal 'page could not be found' type of message now. I'm not sure where to go from here. Please help me out guys.

Btw, it has gone back to the old message now (the one I copy pasted in the first post of this thread).

Just in case it is important the virus I think I got rid of is one with fake BSODs (Blue Screen Of Death) and fake malaware messages.

Have you done a virus scan? Do it using an updated antivirus.
Also, scan with Spybot search and destroy to check for spywares.

You probably have a pretty messed up windows. I would recommend you try installing (or reinstalling) Windows XP SP3, either download it from a good torrent or get it on some CD from someone.

Do a free scan with Kaspersky free edition on System32 folder. Post the results after doing that shrav. Hijackme can be used. But let's see if this issue can be sorted out with Kaspersky.

Eh!! wait! Does the message come after 5-10 after connecting to the internet? Saying "Generic host process needs to shut down or something?"..

I'm most probably going to do a full format now as it seems to have corrupted my Windows Installer and I can't even install some of the anti-virus programs.

Also Kshitiz, my Windows is original and I have SP3.

No mate. If it is GHP Error, you could just fix it with some registry edits. You could try online scans? yeah, or else make sure you run the Win32 Applications on "Administrator" by activating it from the safe mode. .....

That still doesn't work. Somethings wrong with my laptop. Oh well, the only thing of any value on there was FIFA 09 so it's not a big deal.

KBC, how can I do an online scan if I can't browse ?

i would recommed reformating it as it is a virus and you can't get rid of it.

Make sure you try to get rid of it first and back up files before reformatting.

The only files I need were my FIFA save files and I've done that. It's working fine now. In fact, I'm making this post from my laptop. Kshitiz was right .
