WADA gives ICC Nov 2011 deadline

But I'm pretty sure, no one could have 'forced' them.

When was the last time India were in Pakistan? England went there in 05 last time I think.

We've been to Pakistan in 04 (tests and ODI's), 06 (tests and ODI's) and 08 (Asia cup). We were suppose to go again in 09 for a full tour but it was canceled because of the whole situation in Pak.

After the Mumbai attacks weren't a few of them a bit iffy on returning to India.

Yeah they were but India never forced them to come back. We wanted them to come back obviously but if England really wanted they could have said no. So credit to England for coming.

Once again man, what makes you say that?

Are you just assuming?

From what I remember, players were given the 'choice'.

Surely the ICC can chalk out their own set of anti-doping rules instead of blindly complying to WADA? I, for one, find some WADA clauses like this "whereabouts" thing a bit too stringent tbh. Doesn't matter if cricket doesn't make it to the Olympics.

WADA is something the ICC and all the rest of the boards want.

As many as six Test playing nations have lent their support to India over this issue. So I guess it's not just limited anymore to a ego battle between WADA and the BCCI.

Wada clause: Support for BCCI gets louder - Top Stories - Cricket - Sports - The Times of India

The change of heart on the part of Cricket Australia, which itself is Wada-compliant, appears to have stirred other boards as well, with the likes of England (ECB), South Africa (CSA), New Zealand (NZC), Sri Lanka (SLC), Zimbabwe (ZC) and Bangladesh (BCB) also joining the chorus and asking ICC to "rethink Wada's 'whereabouts' clause methodically". The stand of the Pakistan and West Indies boards is not known because of internal flux.

I think the writing on the wall is pretty clear. Either WADA has to tweak its whereabouts clause, or its set of rules will be rejected by the cricketing world. It's upto them now.
Cricket cannot afford to make any compromises on the security of the players, especially after what happened in Pakistan a year back. If we aren't careful enough about issues relating to security, that incident can repeat itself in any place of the world any time. We have to show some prudence in the deals we sign and the steps we take.

Completely agree with K_C. I didn't remember that many countries were against that WADA regulation--which obviously shows that it is inherently flawed, the BCCI notwithstanding.

The clause itself is addressing an understandable concern, but I don't think it is being implemented correctly. Especially in these days of a communication-centric world, where the WADA can get in touch with players just by picking up a telephone, I think it's stupid for players to plan their life months in ahead and tell the WADA about it. If plans change are the players automatically assumed guilty?

The players are suppoused to text their new location apparently.

It's farcial to be completely honest. Fair enough, 7/10 times the player will be on tour or playing a home series or in a training camp, so it's not that big of an issue (and the board can take care of the location issue - just send a list of who is attending the camp / whose in the squad)

Now during the downtime, well...

I think what WADA wants are just city-specific locations. I really don't think they want "Aunty Jee's house in Hyderabad which is at 13 MG Road" but Hyderabad will suffice.

Again though, I might be wrong.

Agree with King_Cricket here.

But as i always say. The ICC needs to be revamped into a proepr independent body from 10 member boards of world cricket. The BCCI influenced needs to fundamentally stripped - we can't have 1 memeber board with so power in this small global cricket community.
