What's really interesting is that this ghazal (Urdu word for poetry; sad poetry in specific) was written in 1971, the year when East Pakistan (Bangladesh) became independent and was no longer a part of Pakistan. Naseer Turabi wrote this to express his sorrow and sadness over the secession of East Pakistan (Bangladesh now). Bangladesh is depicted as the 'humsafar' (companion) of West Pakistan (Pakistan now)The only song that matches it's likeness.
