what do you guys think
i think it will be Bangladesh, (they have some very good young players like Mohammed Ashraful, Ehsanul Hoque, and upcoming players like Habibul Bashar and Javed Omar. Their bowling is looking better and better, will have one of the best bowling attacks in the world in near future) followed by England (They are really getting it togather, some god bowlers and i think one of the upcoming top batsmen Trescothic) and then India ( They have always had batting but the new openers, Ganguly/Sehwag with Yuvraj and Kaif looks superb. And some bowlers like Khan and H. Singh should improve)
After 6 years the rankings might look like this

1. Pakistan/Australia
2. Australia/Pakistan
3. India
4. South Africa
5. England
6. New Zealand
7. Bangladesh
8. West Indies
9. Zimbabwe
10. Sri Lanka
11. Kenya

I think Bangladesh should be 'handed over a break' from test cricket for next 5 years..They have lost every test and that too by innings..many worldrecords are getting broken against them and no one will be proud of those either.

Excuse me m8,

How you can place Sri Lanka 2nd bootom is absolutely unbelievable. Many people (Imran Khan, Boycott) recognise Mahela Jayawardene, aged 23, as an upcoming Sachin Tendulkar. In 6 years he will be 29/30, at the peak of his career. Plus there is Kumar Sangakkara, and Lankan's Under19 team is the strongest in the world.

Plus, the 1st test where the Lankans played almost their 2nd 11, and scored 509 runs in 1 day!, and absolutely annihelated Bangladesh, clearly shows the vast chasm of class that seperate the 2 sides

Sri Lanka's poor performance in England showed it.
They can not become a good team with just one player who has a future in Jayawardane.
And about Bdesh loosing test.
Lets look at this. Pakilankan and Shailesh, do you know how many years after their test status India and Pakistan won a test match? After some 20 years.
People have broken records against Bangladesh but they have broken records too, youngest player to score century, 4th highest test debut score by a player etc.
I used to remember a time when Sri Lanka lost matches like crazy and they were considered the garbage of ICC
So give Bangladesh a break.

tmac,

bangladesh is loosing every test in less than 3 days and by innings..not sure if any other team you mentioned had a start as bad as this. And they still have to play Aus/Sa in a test? I wonder if those could be over in 1-2 days.

Bangladesh should concentrate on 1day cricket and get back in tests when they are good in those.

New Zealand won their first test match after 20 years they got their status. But they played test for 20 years. How can Bangladesh get better if they don't play? 1 day and test are very different. Like Flemming said (NZ)
" We won our first test match after 20 years but Bangladesh if much better and they won't take that long"

n'uff said,
Go Bangladesh.

ok tmac, whatever makes you happy...

your ignorance and persistence makes me chuckle

I agree with tmac. If Bangladesh don't play, they won't improve. I'm sure they love playing cricket and it would be a pity if it is taken away from them.

No one is taking away cricket from them..I'm only asking them to play ODIs till they can last 5 days in a test match.
Otherwise you'll see them used as ginipigs to test upcoming players (like SL are doing).

Possibly, but playing ODI's won't help them improve as a Test playing nation, it might prepare them slightly, but the only way to improve is to keep playing and learning. Cricket is relatively new to Bangladesh, and it is starting to gather a decent following. More people are wanting to play. I think Bangladesh need to be given a chance to gain experiance and fulfill some of its potential.

Exactly Lockey.
Playing more 1days will no way help a team become better at tests. Bangladesh at this point scores more in a 1 day match that in a test inning. Only if they play more test will they become better at it. And talk about ginnipigs, well every team was a ginnipig after their test status. Sri Lanka at one point was the joke of ICC, pakistan, india, NZ they all took a long time to develop. It is only fair to give Bangladesh equal chance. My opinion is simply that Bangladesh is developing at a faster rate than say Sri Lanka and NZ did. But some people started saying, oh! they should not play and things like that which are absoloutly pathetic.
Also just as other team are using new players against BD, they are also using new players and testing them, Mh'md Ashraful (19), Hannan Sarkar (20s), Ehsanul Hoque( 20s), Alok Kapali (19), Tapash Baisya (19) are all young and are flourishing talents.
N'uff said.
