West Indies Fixtures:
Game 1 vs. Australia
Game 2 vs. Pakistan
Game 3 vs. India

Games Vs Aussies,Pak,Ind are going to be real challenge for Lara and his men!!! GoodLuck for Windies to face the tough challenge!! :)

I have played the Australia and Pakistan games. Without wanting to give away the scores.... I have to say I am currently trying to work out how to make this a challenge. I am considering playing the All-Time XI in a series after the World Cup, or perhaps a World XI. If anyone has any ideas, or maybe has some good handicaps I should use for BLIC on PS2 to make games fair, I would be very interested to hear them!!!

I'm still struggling to work out how best to make games more even, although I felt the India game was a big step in the right direction. Thats why the usual style game reports are missing. They will return for the Semi Final and Final!!

Super Six Table:

1. West Indies (3-0-0) 24.0pts
2. Australia (2-1-0) 16.0pts
3. Sri Lanka (1-1-1) 14.0pts
4. Pakistan (0-3-0) 10.5pts
5. India (1-1-1) 10.0pts
6. New Zealand (1-2-0) 7.5pts

Pakistan match was the good victory by Windies becaus defending the low total is not easy!!!

Good Luck for Windies in semis now :)

Pakistan hero Waqar Younis was in devastating form with the ball, taking 7 wickets and leading his team to victory.

Man of the Match - Waqar Younis (PAK - 7 wickets for 45 runs)

Report
Things got of to a good start for the Windies as Collymore, opening the bowling instead of McLean, got Afridi out, caught behind. Lawson took the wicket of Elahi, but then things took a turn for the worse. Inzamam and Anwar both found some brilliant form, with Inzy obviously using the 58 not out he got against the Windies in the Super Sixes as motivation. They both passed their centuries, creaming the bowling of Lawson, McLean and Hooper. It was part-time bowler Wavell Hinds who got the break through, getting both players to edge behind to Jacobs. Inzamam finsihed on 110, Anwar on 111. Despite some breif resistance from Yousuf (43 off 25), the rest of the wickets fell cheaply, Gayle cleaning up the tail with 3 quick wickets. This left the Windies with a makeable 327 needed for victory.

We started well, Chris Gayle and Wavell Hinds looking solid. They both passed their 50s, but then disaster struck. First bowling change, and the super quick Wasim Akram and Shoaib are taken off, to be replaced by the equally quick and dangerous Waqar Younis and Abdul Razzaq. It was Younis who caused the most trouble. The experienced star demolished the Windies top order, taking the wickets of Gayle, Hinds, Lara, Powell and Hooper. It was only when the spinners entered that things got back on track, with Chanderpaul (71) and Jacobs (26) looking good. However, the quicks came back on. Razzaq took the key wickets of Jacobs and Chanderpaul, and then Younis cleaned up the tail with ease, to finish with figures of 7-45, and leaving the Windies 50 runs short of victory.

This spells the end of the World Cup for the Windies. Australia beat Pakistan in the final, although there is no doubt in my mind that Pakistans awesome fast bowling attack gave them the best team in the tournament, and the toughest to face. I have decided to name Brian Lara as my player of the tournament. Batting is my favourite part of the game, and Lara is the best batsman. He always looks solid, and his fighting 92 of 69 balls against Pakistan in the Super Sixes, as the team struggled to 178 all out, was my favourite performance of the lot. Despite Wasim, Shoaib, Razzaq and of course Waqar bowling with venom and fire, Lara continued to fight, and that innings was one of the best I can remember putting together on the game, let alone this world cup.

Captain fantastic: Lara is the West Indies player of the tournament.

For the next series, the West Indies will play against a World XI team. However, I don't want to play against the default World XI; instead, I want another person to coach the World XI team. This means selecting a squad of 16 players, and then selecting the team for each game- 5 one day games, followed by 3 test matches. From the XI, a bowling 'order' at least 6 bowlers long has to be chosen, as well as the teams captain and wicketkeeper.

So from the recomendations of you guys, I will be looking for a 3 man board of selectors for the World XI team.

It doesn't matter if you don't know much about BLIC 2005, and the default teams and players, I have made a list of candidates for the team, together with their OD and test ratings. The batting ratings are of particular significance on the game, I don't really care much for any batsman with a rating less than 75.

It would be cool if there were 2 or Three Selectors, so that we can have turns getting players, and then playing againest each other. But thats my Opinion

Mate I Had a great time following the west indies there.. Great Story.
I Agree Wiht Pak Cricketer get maybe a board of selectors choose our teams then discuss tatics and why we choose those players.... then you take us through the journy again and we can see how our team went.
