I'm bored of waiting for BLIC 2007, so I'm going to get back into BLIC 2005. I can't say this will be the prettiest or most interesting 'tour', but I am mainly doing it to keep a record of my games and tournaments. If someone happens to read it along the way, then that cool, if not, then thats cool as well!

I have started the WC, and entered the stats from the first 2 games into my spreadsheet. I intend to do the following games, but I can't be certain it will happen:
- World Cup
- Champions Trophy
- At least one tour, possibly the sub-continent

Man of the Match - J Rhodes (SA - 190 runs, 1 catch)

Report:

Things didn't look pretty for SA as opening bowlers Lawson and McLean ripped through their top order. However, after 7 overs each they were given a break, much to the liking of Jonty Rhodes. Rhodes started off conservatively, but then proceeded to blast spinners Hooper and Gayle out of the park. Drakes and Collymore came on to change the pace, but it was too late, Rhodes was superb, scoring 190 runs not out. Lawson and McLeans excellent opening spell was only backed up by a solid performance from Drakes (3/57 off his 10 overs). Klusener added 55 off 27 balls to give the hosts a final score of 327.

Chris Gayle and Wavell Hinds opened for the Windies, only for Gayle to fall early on to the bowling of Pollock. However, Brian Lara blasted 130 off only 69 balls to get us back on track. Soilid contributions from Sarwan (55) and Powell (62 no) was enough for the win. A majestic in-swinger from Kallis, knocking out Hoopers off stump, was only consolation for the South Africans.

Cheers

This is the default WC 2003 squad. I didn't even know who was in it before the tournament. I was surprised and pleased to see Hooper in (being a Lancashire fan).

Unfortunately I cannot do screenshots, as this is BLIC for the PS2. I will be doing scorecards and breif reports though!

Report
Utter embarrasment for New Zealand as they batted poorly from start to finsih. Lawson and McLean were too good for top order. I knew that Fleming was poor on this game, but I wasn't expecting guys like Astle, Cairns and Styris to throw their wickets away so cheaply. Harris and Oram made Chris Gayle look like Shane Warne as they played the wrong shots to a couple of leg breaks in Gayles only over. That left Collins (who came in for the dropped Collymore) to clean up the tail and finish with a hattrick- giving him final figures of 4/63, despite bowling poorly.

Windies passed the total easily, losing only 1 wicket in 14 overs. Shane Bond caused all kinds of problems for Chris Gayle, whose 46 was lacking shot selection and timing, and he could have been out 5 or 6 times. Indeed, one lbw shout by Bond on Gayle was clearly out when shown on Hawkeye, but the umpire somehow ruled it pitched outside leg- when it had pitched on leg, and was hitting middle. A rare mistake from the usually superb umpires. Lara came in, and smashed Oram for 4 to win the game.

Windies had a good start for the tournament!!! Mclean with 6 maidens...awesome!!!

One small suggestion,

As u are playing in PS2, why not a try to paste a real pictures for the players with exceptional performance( from cricinfo or some images)

For eg :- Mcmillan has got 40 for NZ.... (Top scorer for them)!!! So a picture of Mcmillan like smashing the ball with the caption " Mcmillan, Only player to provide some ressistance to windies attack" .... It will add more attractiveness to the story!!! For Windies, a picture of Mclean or Collins.....

Well, these are only my suggestions what i personally felt!!! Just want to say that it will add more attractiveness to the story!!! U can continue in whatever way u wish!!!

Anyways U are doing good with the reports & Windies also had a right start for the tournament...:happy

Cheers mate, I'll consider it for future posts. Although like I said, this is mainly for me to keep a record of my games more than anything, so I hope people understand if this is a bit no frills compared to other peoples games.

Great start to the story mate. I hope it isn't too one sided...

Cheers. It's actually difficult to make it even in BLIC. I always try my best with the bat to score as many as possible, but when bowling I set up with 5 slips, 2 gullys, and 2 guys very close in to the batsman. It's all trying to encourage them to score runs. I'm going to add a new 'handicap' for future games- I can only bowl the standard 'x' delivery with seam bowlers, instead of swinging and seaming the ball all over the show. I will still allow myself to do the 'special' balls, although they are hardly very special in my eyes!

Perhaps this will help the CPU score more competetive scores. If anyone else has ideas, feel free to suggest them!!!!

p.s. If you don't like seeing one sided games, don't look for the next 2 games. I have just played the Bangladesh game, and it wasn't pretty. Next up..... the mighty Canada!!!

I intend to use the following handicaps for when I am the fielding side:
- The same, easy to attack field as currently used
- No swing or seaming from M, FM and F bowlers (new)
- After the first 20 overs, one bowling end must be occupied by a spinner (new)

Hopefully this will help. Although I doubt it will help Canada much, unless John Davison takes off!
