Worst Test Team

Yuvraj is massively overrated. His a ODI / Twenty20 specialist and Sinclair's hit a double century in Test Cricket aswell. Sinclair also has a better average for someone who plays in a much weaker team.

1 Sinclair innings isn't good enough to make him better than Yuvraj. Yuvraj, if given the chance could be a very good test match cricketer. In the past 2 years of Test cricket, Sinclair averages 19, with all tests played at home, against Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and England. Not good enough. He averaged 20 against Sri Lanka and 11 against England, only his average of 38 against Bangladesh took him up to 19. He's an awful player in awful form. He should definitely be in instead of Yuvraj.

First Class average is not the same as test match average. Ramprakash has a fantastic FC average, but was very ordinary at Test Match level. Bevan didn't make the step-up. He averaged 29 at the end of his Test career, Yuvraj has played more tests and has a higher average (32). You often quote FC averages Ben, whereas this is a test match team, not a FC team. Many players who perform well at FC level don't make it at test level; Bevan is one of these players.

Also take into account who they played test cricket against.

Yuvraj's three test tons have come against Pakistan - the bowling attacks were Akhtar-Sami-Gul-Kaneria, Akhtar-Asif-Razzaq-Afridi and Akhtar-Sami-Arafat-Kaneria. Hardly world class attacks.

Bevan faced attacks of a much higher quality and yes he did struggle. But Yuvraj would do no better against a Saffie attack containing Donald-Pollock-Klusener-Kallis-Adams; and he'd have no chance in hell against a Pakistan attack including Wasim-Waqar-Mushtaq Ahmed or a West Indian attack of Ambrose-Bishop-Walsh-Simmons-Hooper (Bevan made himself 87* in this test).

You can take the fact that Yuvraj averages higher than Bevan at test cricket (three runs...) as being evidence he's better if you like, but Yuvraj has hardly come up against a quality attack and made runs against it.

In some respects, FC averages are a much better indication of ability than test cricket considering the gulf between test teams and where one player (Yuvraj) has made most of his runs on flat and lifeless wickets against Pakistan.

I never said I think Yuvraj is a better player. I was just saying that Ben should focus more on the Test Batting Averages and not FC averages, as not every good FC player makes the step up to test level; Bevan and Ramprakash being the 2 prime examples of this.

What i meant to say was the averages cannot always define a player. They show of his progress and not his class.

Bevan and Lehmann both have significantly better first-class averages. Ramprakash averages 51 whilst Bevan & Lehnmann average 58.

Playing test cricket at 25 wouldn't be much harder then playing first-class cricket as a 17 year old. Especially if it's Australian domestic cricket as county cricket has so many teams that the quality isn't as consistant.

for all those yuvraj trappers, Yuvraj is the best of the lot of those who hit 6 sixes in an over. Herschelle Gibbs has one in WC, but, came off against a normal bowler. Whereas, Yuvraj has hit The full monty against a well!, - good Bowler. Broad.

Get on topic now.

That was in a Twenty20 game though. This is a test team, an arena where Yuvraj has struggled. Stick to the graphics section KBC ;)

There is a time where every player goes out of form, and this is something related to the graphics. So, don't prolong his previous poor batting form anymore. Just As people have under-estimated sehwag and now?, no one dares to make a word against him. heh!. Yuvraj too will prove himself out. I hope another Freddy should bug him up a bit.

Doesn't matter, Yuvraj though, should be in the best test team side, not the worst.

If it is, he has just played 22 Test and on rare occasions. so, you cannot be lame and but all the blame on him. Watch him go by later on now.;).

No. What has Yuvraj done to warrant a place in the test side ?

He's a kind of player who needs to get himself settled on every pitch at times than the others take. If you see most of his test matches. Yuvraj has a strike rate of just 55. And, sometimes less than that if he goes slogging.

My point is that he's a time taker at instances. Sometimes, he gets to face good deliveries which can't be played until and unless he gets settled. His main strategy is to stay, get settled, And then, go for the drive. And, I think he has improved that later during the october, 2007 and late Aus Tour.

now, you might ask some point to speak out for him during the aus series. tbh, People who have toured aus 2-3 times and played consistently there have been able to succeed in getting runs. Though, failing at the right time to perform , he performed .; with showing some good stuff during the CB series. I bet if the CB series was ahead of the test series. Then, the conditions would be different for yuvraj.

I'm sorry but you've given no facts as to why Yuvraj is deserving of a place in the team. He's only been successful on flat pitches in the subcontinent against average teams. He averaged 15 against Australia, 21 against England, 17 against West Indies (away), and 4 in Australia. He struggles away from the subcontinent against decent teams. He only made 25 runs in a test against NZ at home, and has a test average of 32, there's no-one in the current test team who should be dropped in favour of Yuvraj; Tendulkar, Sehwag, Laxman, Dravid and Dhoni are far better test players than Yuvraj. How would you fit Yuvraj into the team ? and what has he done to deserve a place in the test side ?
