It says "Y making the batsman leave the ball, and not playing a stroke"

can any Xbox users confirm this?

This is correct the Y button although not leaving the ball in the tradional sense makes the batsmen move his bat out of the way. Now if done at the wrong time it looks like he is playing a shot and can hit the bat or his shoulder and move away allowing runs.

It is a leave but it looks messy

It also makes the batsman lose confidence.
