We've had a few decent ones in the past few years, and yes I am talking about your cricket clubs, not domestic level or whatever.

A couple of years ago we had a Saffa called Henry Davids. He plays for Cape Cobras and he is currently 123 Not Out, having made a 3rd ball duck in the first innings against the Titans.

Added to all this, he scored hatfuls of runs and was an absolute legend.

Anyway, Summer 06 we had another Saffa Craig Thyssen, on recommendation of Davids because Henry had to undergo shoulder surgery.

And finally, the summer just gone we had a Sri Lankan, Duminda Perera.

We had Mohammad Ashraful at Rainhill for a short spell. Was consistently decent. And yes, I do mean the Mohammad Ashraful.

Well, I have not had someone that good but we did have Malinda Warnapura (we called him Mally) three years ago, he scored runs by the bucketload but at our division three level, the bowling was perhaps a tad slow for him. He averaged around 60 and took wickets with his off spin, was the safest pair of hands at slip too. It was great to see him debuting for Sri Lanka on TV. To have bowled to an international players in the nets is a great honour.

Two years ago we had Omesh Wijiserwadne (sp??) who has played for Sri Lanka A, he cleaned up with the ball because he was rapid, and I mean rapid. We have a bowler who has clocked 80mph and Omesh looked twice his pace, he said he had once hit 88mph which by our club's standards is ridiculous. He averaged 9 with the ball and keepers had to rotate between matches as their hands would be blistered all over their hands, even our best keepers; he could give the ball a mighty thwack too. Interestingly, Dean Headley played in my league and has averaged 8 with the ball bowling just 70mph but with brilliant accuracy and a vicious bouncer, so pace isn't everything.

We got both of them through dodgy connections but the person who got them didn't pay them and has left the club so we won't get any more.

Blackpool had Richie Richardson for a bit (I found out through research, I didn't know this).

We had Deon Kruis as well, who I've seen on TV for Yorkshire (:crying)

We've had some extremes really. Couple of years ago had a West Indian allrounder who was great with the bat but struggled with no balls. He did really well though, it's just the rest of the team that didn't. Saying that he didn't respond to coming back this season just gone.

This season we had a Sri Lankan halfway through the year who had a bit of an attitude problem, was alright with the ball but nothing too special.

We have had Niall O'Brien, Ben France,Waqar Younis. Waqar recommended this year too get Mohammed Zahid over but he is having Visa troubles :P!

Probably because he has been in England for 3 seasons and being Pakistani and all a lot of checks to get too Australia he must go through.

We've had Nathan McCullum (Bredon McCullum's brother) over as player/coach. He was absolutely brilliant in the 14 matches he played for us:
Averaged 36.17 with the bat and took 28 wickets @ 11.79. Plus he's a brilliant fielder. He was selected for NZ in the T20 squad (probably after his 45 ball 99 boosted our team to the T20 finale), didn't preform too well there, but I'm afraid first class cricket in Holland isn't quite up to his standard anymore. :( But it was a great guy to work with for one season

We had some bloke from South Africa who chances are got lost and has never played in his life but he was offered money for it. I had a better batting and bowling average than him! My cousin faced Jermaine Lawson before and I've played for his club so thats about as close as we've got to anyone good :p

We were playing a local club who had this 18 year old West Indian exchange student who got 5 wickets and scored 75*. Never did find out his name, though he did win the match for the other team almost by himself.

Suppose the most notable would be Doug Hondo and Geraint Jones. Have also had a few associate players over the years.

Also, a bucket load of Aussie grade players, including one of the fastest bowlers I have ever seen.
