Come on mods. Give us a chance

Should we be allowed some sort of variation of a Superthread?

Kind of different from what you originally said and completely different from the impression I was getting from Sureshot.

Just for the record I'm not purposefully looking for an argument but I feel we should be able to have a say in what happens
Learn it, I've learnt it the hard way, PC isn't a democracy and its never going to be. I don't want you to be in a situation of an argument I was an year ago. :)

Believe me I do see why you would it to re open but a thread designed for that sort of thing isn't right. The Flashchat isn't bad, its just people just don't use it.

I agree this could not function if this was a democracy. What I'm saying is we should still be able to have a say. Britain is a democracy but I can't go out there and say "Let's invade Iran" However I can vote for my local MP etc. I'm not saying we should have to vote on everything (that wouldn't work) but I do think recently the admins have got completely out of touch with the members.

So why was it there before? And also the flash chat is rubbish. Kind of why no one uses it

You're partly right actually. But then its upto the admins to decide that, we can only suggest. Its like "Use it and If you don't like it then leave it" I dont know why. But then there's this feedback forum so its all pretty messed up.

You do get the chance to have your say. We will listen and we do take things under consideration. It but it may not always be suitable for the forum.

The superthread got out of hand towards the end, which when we decided to close it.

Well that's an outright lie Robo, you don't listen to what we say and you say that in a droning, force-fed tone of voice like some sort of jedi code. However, I do agree that it should stay shut.

Ok, I'm going to use a different tact as it seems from my view that I'm having a go at the fundamentals of Planetcricket. I'm not :noway Firstly the admins, the globies and most of the mod's do a superb job these days. I can only guess how hard their job is and I doubt myself and Hooper didn't make it any easier today. I know this isn't a democracy and I respect that (that is why I have 5.5K + of posts) However I feel that we are right back where we were when Duff left. The admin team thinking everything is perfect while many of the members pretty unhappy. The admin team need to get back in touch with us. i would say around November things were pretty damn good. I felt that we could say something and you guys listened and took action. Now I just feel you guys don't give a s*** about us anymore!

Yeah and I'm the Prime Minister  Matt sums that up pretty well I feel

Oh jeez not this again...
Why do people think the existence of one thread will somehow herald a golden age? It's not what the thread is called; it's what you post in it.
There are plenty of threads where the types of quality conversation that were happening in the superthread (and there were some) are still happening. If you want the kind of spammy instant chat that got the superthread closed then use flashchat or the shoutbox and if you want to make quality posts then do so, but in the specific thread. E.g. music chat in music thread; football chat in football thread.
I do get amused when people keep bringing this up time and time again as some kind of silver bullet. Yes the superthread was fun, but times change and so does the site. We want to encourage quality posts and we want people to enjoy posting here but they need to realise that it wasn't the superthread that made the site fun; it was the people who were posting and what was being posted.
In my opinion the active members we have now are just as good as the ones we had then - I don't buy these whole PC has got spammy and gone downhill posts - and there are plenty of threads where you can share your wit with the rest of us.

II do think recently the admins have got completely out of touch with the members.

If this is about me refusing to make a usergroup called "PC pranksters" for you to play practical jokes then I'm less than impressed.

Colin's got it bang on. If you can't come to your senses after reading that then you just basically have no sense. Change the record lads, the Superthread's dead. Let it rest in piece.

WTF I have absolutley nothing to do with that and if someone has said I was for that I want something done, because that is an utter lie. On the other hand if you just made that up I'm less than impressed. I had one joke and that was it.

However if you want I'll give up on trying to get the super-thread back. You are right. Maybe I am looking back through rose-tinted glasses.

Ok, it wasn't you who sent me the PM asking about it but your name was mentioned in it.

That's wise Tom. I don't see why your all so desperate to get it back. Spam is only spam when it's off topic. It wouldn't be off-topic in the Superthread so the argument you make about it being the home of spam is a bit odd.

Well you have it from me I have not even been asked about it. However I can guess it was from either Hitterman or Giggity, I know you can't say though

Yeah your right. I do suppose Planetcricket has to move on. It's just I feel that there are some members these days who are dragging down the level of this forum. That may not be everyone's opinion but a couple of names keep coming up over and over again

I'd just like to say as well, up until the later months of it's closure, the Superthread wasn't just a spam fest as some of you lot seem to think. We had some very funny and ever so occasionally sensible discussions in there. It wasn't just a case of spamzilla. We all ruined it in the end (by all I mean Muel and Me) with all the gay porn references and stuff, but the thread wasn't just a spamfest. Just thought i'd say.
